McGreal Out for Tranmere Tue 21st Mar 2000 12:24 Town centre-half John McGreal will miss Wednesday's vital away game against his former club Tranmere at Prenton Park. |
Town 0-2 Norwich Sun 19th Mar 2000 20:27 Town fell to a home defeat to Norwich in a scrappy affair at Portman Road. Iwan Roberts scored two first half goals as Town never impressed their superiority on their neighbours. |
Stewart back for derby Fri 17th Mar 2000 11:14 Town are likely to go into Sunday's derby with Norwich with a full squad, with the exception of Mark Venus who is short of match practice. |
Canaries Swoop for Fox? Thu 16th Mar 2000 17:00 Former Norwich hero Ruel Fox may well be on his way back to Carrow Road after Spurs agreed to loan him for the rest of the season. Ipswich born Fox is thought to be stalling on whether to take the deal and whether he plays Sunday or not is in the balance. |
Venus Probably Out Wed 15th Mar 2000 12:05 Town centre-half Mark Venus is almost certainly out of Sunday's derby at Portman Road. The ex-Wolves man has been missing for a couple of months, but has been on the way back and looked set to play for the reserves tonight against Brighton. Now he has a calf injury which may be OK by the weekend, but it is unlikely he will be considered whilst still so short of match practice. Wayne Brown is set to continue. Also still being treated is Marcus Stewart who was missing at Wolves with a groin starin. It is expected that he will start against Norwich. Other injury victims are gradually returning. Titus Bramble and Stuart Niven both play their first games since recovering from injury tonight in the reserve fixture at Brighton (at Worthing KO 7pm). Bramble injured his knee whilst on loan at Colchester while Niven has had his season decimated by a cruciate knee operation. He will now hope he does enough before the end of the season to earn a new contract. Free transfer man Chris Keeble is also in the squad and is still interesting Colchester. He played for their reserves earlier in the week and scored. He will look to impress once again this evening. Town's other to be released player Adam Tanner is missing tonight with a hamstring problem. Full squad: Branagan, Pullen, Croft, J MIller, Bramble, Maurel, Holster, Niven, Axeldal, Friars, Inglis, Logan, Moffat, Keeble, Snowdon. |
No Rap For George Tue 14th Mar 2000 14:05 George Burley has escaped any punishment for his tirade against Saturday's referee Michael Jones. In the closing stages Jones failed to award Town a penalty when Richard Naylor was pulled down by Kevin Muscat even after his linesman had flagged a foul. Buley later branded Jones a disgrace and there was talk of action being taken against him However, Jones has not mentioned the incident in his report and George will not face action. |
Clegg Returns Mon 13th Mar 2000 15:26 Loanee Michael Clegg has returned to Manchester United after his month's loan with Town. The full back had an unimpressive time with Town and any further move for him from George Burley looks unlikely. |
Norwich Boss Out? Mon 13th Mar 2000 15:18 Norwich City are set this afternoon to hold a press conference and the specualtion is that it could see the end of Bruce Rioch's tenure at Carrow Road. Our sources tell us that it could be former Town coach and midfielder Bryan Hamilton who is in charge for the derby Saturday and for the rest of the season. |
Wolves 2-1 Town Sun 12th Mar 2000 23:39 Town fell to their second defeat in three games at Molineux, but can think themselves very unfortunate not to have gained at least a point. An early goal in each half from Harvard Flo gave Wolves a two goal lead and Town could only respond with A James Scowcroft header towards the end. A controversial decision in the closing stages saw Town have a blatant penalty denied. |
Scowy Very Doubtful Fri 10th Mar 2000 13:41 Town's man of the season so far, James Scowcroft is rated as very doubtful for tomorrow's game at Wolves. The other man missing from Tuesday's 0-0 draw with Blackburn, John McGreal stands a good chance of being fit, although George Burley may stick with Manu Thetis who had an impressive time against the Ewood Park side. Thetis and Fabian Wilnis were singled out for special praise by George Burley and both will be looking for starts at Molineux. Pressuring Wilnis will be Gary Croft who has now recovered from his gashed knee. Also nearing the first team is Mark Venus who came through the reserve game in the week, but is not considered fit enough to start tomorrow. Other centre-half injury problem Titus Bramble has also resumed training, although he is a long way from being fit for first team consideration. George Burley has told Marcus Stewart to be more selfish and to drop deep less. After two goals in his first two games Stewart has failed to find the net in his next three. Probable squad: R Wright, Branagan, Wilnis, Clegg, Clapham, Croft, Stockwell, Mowbray, Brown |
