Magilton Back in NI Favour Tue 15th Feb 2000 14:50

No Op for Titus Tue 15th Feb 2000 14:03
Good news for young Town centre-half Titus Bramble after his visit to a London specialist. Titus has been told that he won't need an operation for his injured knee which he hurt playing for Colchester at Layer Road against Bristol Rovers a month ago. A scan showed that the problem will clear up if the player rests for three weeks. Meanwhile fellow centre-half injury victims Manu Thetis and Mark Venus are both on the road to recovery. Manu is likely to play in tomorrow's home reserve game with Millwall (KO 2pm), whilst Venus is rated as doubtful for the Crewe match at the weekend, but is likely to be available for the game with Birmingham the Sunday after.
Loanee In? Mon 14th Feb 2000 13:43
With Gary Croft now added to the legion of injured defenders the possibility of a defensive loanee looks ever more likely. Last week George Burley dismissed bringing in a centre-half on loan even though Manu Thetis, Mark Venus, Adam Tanner and Titus Bramble are all injured. He added that other players including Croft could play at centre-half if required. However, with Croft now missing for two to three weeks with a gashed knee Burley could move to bring in cover.
Town 2-1 Huddersfield Sun 13th Feb 2000 22:37
As was inevitable Marcus Stewart was the man that ultimately made the difference between Town and Huddersfield, his former employer. The £2.5 million man hit the Blues' second in the 73rd minute after James Scowcroft had scored Town's first and Dean Gorre had hit an equaliser for the Yorkshire side.
Town Squad for Huddersfield Fri 11th Feb 2000 11:30
Town go into tomorrow's game with Huddersfield with Gary Croft's groin the only worry. The now untagged defender injured himself in training but should be fit. If not Fabian Wilnis is likely to take his place. It will be an especially poignant day for Marcus Stewart, of course, playing against his old club. A hat trick would be the perfect way to celebrate, don't you think? Full squad: R Wright, Salmon, Wilnis, Croft, Clapham, Stockwell, Mowbray, McGreal, Brown, Holland, Magilton, J Wright, Scowcroft, Johnson, Stewart, Naylor, Logan, Axeldal and Midgley.
Burley for Celtic Job? Thu 10th Feb 2000 13:48
George Burley is emerging as a target for the now vacant manager's job at Cletic. The Scottish giants, umbled so dramatically by Inverness Caledonian on Tuesday night, are holding a press conference this afternoon to announce John Barnes's departure. It is also reported that Alan Brazil has said that Burley is the man for the job. With George Burley refuting every suggestion af a movce by any of his playes it will be interesting to see how long it takes the Town chief to distance himself from a move.
Croft Worry for Saturday Wed 09th Feb 2000 14:40
Newly detagged Town wing-back Gary Croft is a worry for Saturday's crunch clash with fellow promotion hopefuls Huddersfield Town. Croft felt his groin go during yesterday's training session but Town are hopeful it will heal sufficiently for Saturday. Definitely out is Mark Venus who is still suffering with his foot injury which has dogged him since pre-season, although it is improving. He hasn't trained for ten days. Others under treatment are Manu Thetis, Adam Tanner and Titus Bramble. Tanner and Thetis are suffering with hamstring injuries whilst Titus has a knee problem. John Kennedy is back in contention for a reserve team place after a long lay-off with an ankle injury.
