Away Goals Don't Count! Tue 09th May 2000 14:09 Just to confirm away goals do not count in the play-offs this season. Should the play-off semi-final end as last year then a penalty shoot-out will take place. Hmmm. Penalties... |
Wright After Premiership Football With Town Tue 09th May 2000 13:51 Richard Wright has again re-iterated his intention to stay with Town should they be promoted to the Premiership. Wright said: "Hopefully, if we can get the results we need, Ipswich will be in the Premiership and I'll be with them." Wright has refused up to now to sign an extension to his current contract which ends in a year's time. Town are looking for him to sign for at least another year. Several clubs including Chelsea have been linked and he seems destined to leave in the summer shuld Town fail in the play-offs for the fourth time running. |
Ticket Priority News Mon 08th May 2000 12:36 The availability of tickets for the away leg of the play-off on Sunday, 1pm at the Reebok Stadium is thus: |
Scowy and Stewart Probably OK Mon 08th May 2000 11:54 Town injury victims James Scowcroft and Marcus Stewart are likely to be fit for Sunday's play-off game at the Reebok Stadium with Bolton. Scowcroft was substituted near the end and had to have stitches on a wound below his knee. Stewart went off with a calf injury but neither injury is likely to be so bad that they are a doubt for Bolton. John McGreal and Fabian Wilnis are also under treatment, McGreal with his ankle injury and Wilnis with a groin strain. McGreal may be fit for Sunday whilst there doesn't seem to be any suggestion that Wilnis will be missing Sunday. |
2-0, But Play-Offs Again Sun 07th May 2000 20:26 Town easily defeated Walsall with two second half David Johnson goals, but fans returned home feeling less than ecstatic as Blackburn failed to beat Manchester City and catapult Town into the Premiership. Two play-offs with Bolton (yes Bolton again) await with the first away at the Reebok Stadium next Sunday afternoon. |
Scowy Wins Player of the Year Fri 05th May 2000 17:29 James Scowcroft has won the ITFC Supporters' Player of the year. As expected he absolutely walked it with no-one near him, collecting more than 50% of the votes. He will receive the award after Sunday's titanic match with Walsall. |
Town Unchanged Sunday Fri 05th May 2000 14:25 Town are likely to be unchanged from last week's line up for the quite spectacualrly crucial game with Walsall on Sunday (1.30pm KO and on Sky for those of you who've been asleep for the last week). Marcus Stewart has already said that he will be OK to play in what he sees as the biggest game of his career. Mark Venus is likely to struggle by on his ankle as he has all season, before having an operation in the summer. He may play his usual 75-80 minutes before being replaced. New haircut-boy Gary Croft's mates at Blackburn are determined that no-one is going to partying on their turf again this season. Skipper Lee Carsley told City: "We do not want you celebrating here." Let's hope Blackburn's resolve is as strong as that and that Town get the early goals that will make Sunday just that little bit less stressful... |
Wright Place at the Right Time Thu 04th May 2000 14:12 Kevin Keegan has named Richard Wright in his trio of keepers to go to Euro 2000, a major boost to the Town net-minder ahead of Sunday's crucial game with Walsall. |
Stewart Declares Himself Fit Thu 04th May 2000 11:26 Town's record signing Marcus Stewart has declared himself fit for Sunday's more than slightly important game with Walsall. The serially injured striker says he can't wait for what he sees as the biggest game of his career. Stewart previously played for Bristol Rovers in a Wembley play-off final against the club he later joined Huddersfield, but sees Sunday's march as the bigger of the two. His dead-leg sustained on Saturday at the Valley is now OK and he is back in training. |
Stewart and Venus Main Worries Wed 03rd May 2000 14:17 Marcus Stewart and Mark Venus are Town's main worries ahead of Sunday's crucial game with Walsall. The Town record signing is still feeling the dead-leg he received on Saturday and is still not training, but he is expected to be fit for Sunday. Venus is still having trouble with his right ankle, an injury which has affected him ever since pre-season and he will have an operation on it in the summer. Manu Thetis is also still concerned about his back injury sustained in the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace. He is likely to take a place on the subs' bench unless Venus misses out. His situation should become clearer as the week progresses. |
