I was convinced right from the start that we have a once in a generation managerial talent at the helm. I believe there to be a new breed of contemporary football-educated manager and we've found a pearl. The combination of his obvious intelligence, perfect communication, the way he deploys a mix of short and long term visions and strategies and of course his focus and dedication adds up to a world class package. I’m certain that if he wasn’t a football manager he could be a superb CEO. That he’s doing this with a quality brand of football and a one-game-at-a-time-we’ll-try-to-be-competitive philosophy and generating real hope within the fanbase, is just the icing on the cake, It’s absolutely unfathomable to me that any fan can question KM across his body of work with us so far or actually call for his sacking at any point. The div list is too good for such “fans”. Obviously no human being is going to get every single decision right (and we don’t live in the alternative reality where the outcome of plan B can be compared) especially where the level of competition is so high and where there is a level of managed risk required to try to close the gap. It’s also important to appreciate that a level of patience is required to allow certain improvements that KM is working on, to come to fruition. I personally wouldn’t swap KM for any other manager in world football and all I can do is appreciate and enjoy this period he is here and hope it last forever. But it won’t. A manager this good comes around once a generation, if we're lucky, so there will be many fans like me who may well not witness Ipswich led by another Messiah in their lifetime… In the meantime, Sky's the limit as far as I'm concerned, If the likes of Forest, Leicester, West Ham and Villa can have their moment at the upper reaches of the Premier League or in Europe, in modern times, I don't see why we can't. Shout out to Gamechanger and MA who have not wasted the opportunity we have but rather facilitated it. |

Is there any point in buying a membership for this season if you weren't last season and didn't go to any league games last season? Seems unlikely that the ballot would make it as far as the zero points stage, based on likely demand? |

Your criticism that McKenna's greed and opportunism has dented Hladky's ability to seek the same is a rather glaring contradiction is it not? |

Who knows how legit this is but if true absolutely the right move by Ashton, give Kmac a top 6 salary that’ll take 1 variable out of the equation hopefully. Keeping hold of Kmac is more important than any player signing by a mile. |

In terms of the prevailing sentiment of "we're going to do it aren't we" more recently... it's absolutely mad to realise in hindsight that 4 draws and 2 defeats would have been enough to get us promoted after the Southampton game. We could have "collapsed" and still done it. Thanks, Leeds! |

Assuming we don't lose tonight, then Huddersfield will be the equivalent of the PO Final in 2000, the same prize. Could argue its worth more now in terms of the financial rewards, our momentum as a club, McKenna, etc. Although this will sound illogical, I don't think it will be a bad thing if we "only" draw tonight and go into the Huddersfield game with the clarity of purpose of needing to win. Although only needing a draw is obviously easier on paper, when you combine the psychological effects of the pressure, needing to win might actually relax and bring the best out of the players rather than playing in the fear of not losing... Who knows. Whatever, I'm confident that McKenna and the boys will get it done over the next 2 games. We've basically been on track all season. Enjoying the journey. |
 | Forum Reply | Time McKenna shows his worth. at 13:20 11 Apr 2024
"Time McKenna shows his worth". Deary me, that's a take of the "victim of success" variety if ever I saw one. History lesson. When we were promoted the prevailing opinion was we'd do well to establish ourselves in the first season back in the Championship as we didn't have enough depth or quality in our L1 team to compete. Then we had a summer transfer window that most of you decided was "nowhere good enough". Then by Christmas the wheels were coming off and it was roundly decided that "we've been found out" and it would be much harder as we played teams 2nd time around. Then we suffered a bit of an illness and injury in the squad, Leeds and Soton caught up and most resigned themselves to the Playoffs and in many cases "better not to be promoted too soon"... Yet here we are, 2nd in the league, with it all in our own hands to go up Automatically. But according to you the good times have been "easy" and now McKenna needs to earn his money. Jesus wept. |

Leicester, Leeds or Southampton could just as easily end up weaker by the end of the January window, should they receive an offer they can't refuse for Dewsbury-Hall, Summervile or Armstrong for instance. Doesn't matter how much money they've got burning a hole in their pockets, its not easy to attract a player to the Championship who is immediately as good/important for them. Same applies to us but I have a feeling our top players such as LD are wedded to the journey, at least for now... |

I’m “abroad” using International Subscription - no problem. |

Precisely. Although at least all those goals where a toe nail or a nose hair are in front of the defender would count... I prefer the benefit to go to the attacking team and at least this change would facilitate that. |

Your fix is to turn off a feature I use regularly because it doesn’t work properly? Thanks for your invaluable advice. |

Thanks, appreciate it. So... I read between the lines how you did that ;) Therefore that's an option, wherever I am watching from, potentially. I'm going to "test" the International Subscription in the UK on Saturday, if that works I might go that route as it saves the hassle of buying match passes each time, but otherwise, good to know your method probably works too. |
 | Forum Reply | Town TV ... again at 14:25 8 Aug 2023
Can I ask, what country were you in (assume you were overseas as the game was on Sky... but then again you might not have Sky) or did you VPN from UK to somewhere like Italy where the game was not on TV? I understood the game was not available in the UK as it was on Sky... Issue I've got is that I travel internationally for work quite a bit, so let's say in a season I can watch 20 games live of which 10 I am in the UK and 10 are overseas. None of the subscriptions seems to work well for me. At this stage I'm thinking the best plan is to subscribe to the International Subscription from Aug - May (£180) and when I am in UK or a country where its not available I'll just VPN to somewhere it is... think that'll work? Anyone know the email address for questions to ITFC about this... I need to carefully word some questions...! Cheers |
 | Forum Reply | Supercomputer Opta predicts us for 18th at 10:49 1 Aug 2023
I've read loads of threads about predictions, so I'll put mine here: I'll be happy with anything above relegation for the first season back, as we establish ourselves in the Championship, but I genuinely think we can be up in the top 6 at least. Reasons to support the theory are: • I think we've struck gold with KM, he's the best young manager in the country, you have to factor in the fact he continually improves players and the team and we are going into the season with spirit, confidence and momentum. • Our performances and results were better against teams that play football and we'll enjoy a lot more of that this season. Looking at results such as Bolton, Barnsley, Derby and P'boro last season, away to teams fighting. They'd be good results for an upper Championship team. • I do believe our results against Millwall, Rotherham, Burnley, PNE and Luton in the last 12 months further point to the likelihood we can compete. • Honestly, if our current team played our team that was relegated in 18/19 we'd batter them, 6 points easily, we've got so much more cohesion, desire, dynamism and tactical shape than we had back then. • We've built a squad and developed playing style designed to compete in the Championship. That approach possibly made promotion harder (where perhaps a more agricultural style might have yielded quicker results) but it's now embedded and more sustainable going forwards. • The fact that other "footballing" sides have excelled in the league above once promoted shows that its possible and we're essentially following that blueprint. • We've got the ability to strengthen both in August and January - and I expect we will. • I'm not under the misapprehension that the Championship is EASY as the basis of my prediction. On the contrary, it's based on the feeling that we are GOOD enough to compete within that level of difficulty. So there we have it. It's all guesses at the end of the day. But it's certainly amusing to be told to "calm down" by the same fans that were saying we weren't good enough for the playoffs last season.... |
