I'm getting to the point of thinking is this all worth it for a player with no prem experience and an agent who is quite frankly the biggest d**khead going.
All the rumours about McKenna jumping ship won't stop until we tie him down to a new contract with a hefty release fee. Ashton did that last season when Leicester and Leeds were sniffing around so I wouldn't be surprised if he was trying to do the same again. It would be a statement of intent and also telling other clubs to back off.
I keep seeing AI generated stadiums designs for how stadiums could look like with redevelopment such as St. James Park, Old Trafford and now even Wrexham's race course ground.
Has anyone done one for Portman Road? Would love to see one with a redeveloped Cobbold stand (I know they have one as part of the IBC plans for the car park)
Hopefully when we get Gallagher through the door we need to address our fullback situation. Working on the basis Williams is going back to Manchester United we will need cover for both left back and right back. Due to squad size I think we would need to deregister Donacien as is he realistically going to be fit.
Plus you can't expect Harry Clarke to remain injury free when he is being managed through his achilles issue.
As we are currently short of strikers I know he didn't do too well in his last loan in Finland but surely he is a better bet than the 18 year old. He is a big physical lad I don't think it would harm to have him on the bench. I assume he is off as he wasn't in the squad at QPR.
Listening to Ashton's interview at the end of season awards he mentioned they need to look at the capacity. Makes me wonder whether they will accelerate the redevelopment of the Cobbold to keep up with demand.
I would be interesting to see how they perceive this and whether their is genuine concern among the fan base that we are going to do a job on them next season. If I were them I would be sh***ing myself us making them look like a bunch of clowns, and thus restoring the natural order.
This I would have thought would be a ideal first job for Keiron Dyer but alas his health issues (waiting for a liver transplant) would stop him for going for it.
I was perusing the Ipswich v Coventry City league programme from the 1977/78 season and in the programme it mentioned that on July 27th 1936 we signed Scottish right back Bob Thomson from Racing Club de Paris (86 years ago) when we were in the Southern League.
There was much made about town having full time players but this seems like smoke and mirrors. You can understand why the club has failed to attract any players in the summer. What's the point being a pro but still having to work full time it's counter productive.
I think the club needs to invest more in players contracts which when compared to the men's team would be a modest sum.
I have seen Yengi has been finding the net on a consistent basis since his loan move (albeit in the Finnish premier League) but he seems like a striker that would fit perfectly in McKenna set up. The lad is a tall, strong and fast who appears to have a decent eye for goal.
Hopefully the loan move could give him the kick start he needs.
So today I received a Conservative party Flyer for l the May local elections and in part of their drivel they usually out in one interesting thing stuck out which could have an impact on any future Portman Road development.
They propose to investigate the feasibility of a multi use music and sports arena with a large capacity on Princess Street which the current council wants to build a multi story car park on.
I don't know whether this would have a positive or negative impact if they would look to redevelop the stadium.
