| Forum Thread | 10% away allocation in Premier League? at 10:45 2 May 2024
Whilst noting the reduced season ticket numbers for next year, is there not another angle that the club are having to protect, if we reach the promised land. Our current away fans capacity is 2000. In the Premier League we would be obliged to provide 2900 based on current capacity of 29000. So you would assume supporters in middle section of Cobbold needing to move, unless part of lower SAR is used, as was done for West Ham in play offs 20 years ago. |

I'm in Colchester. So, they probably went past my house twice! |
| Forum Thread | The state of Royal Mail at 11:05 10 Apr 2024
My Blackburn tickets arrived YESTERDAY! 11 days after the match. They'd been ordered 2 weeks before the game, but I started to get a bit twitchy 2 days before the match so rang the club to arrange for duplicates to be collected at Blackburn. This back up plan worked really well. So, 2 questions. Is this further proof that Royal Mail is broken. Should the club consider alternative methods for delivery of tickets? |
| Forum Reply | It probably is time for a new Cobbold stand at 12:27 1 Mar 2024
Yes. The standing was the best bit for me. Stood there from 1972 to 1981 when we had to move as the executive boxes and seating came in. A lot of fans were packed onto that terrace with at times a near crush, particularly Leeds FA Cup 1975. It was a terrace made for standing with relatively low angle. The seats bolted onto the concrete terrace in 1981 were never fit for purpose, hence the poor view and lack of leg room today. |
| Forum Reply | Top 10 Portman Road attendances - those were the days at 15:14 18 Jan 2024
By 1981 the Portman Terrace had become all seater/executive boxes, reducing the capacity to around 32000. I was at the Leeds game, 9 years old at the time. I recall a combination of fear at how crowded it was and excitement of being in such a big crowd. Not sure if numbers were limited after that, but it really did feel very crowded. |

Spot on. He was definitely making a point. The crowd became lethargic and tense as our play lost its impetus. |
| Forum Reply | Who went to Norwich v Ipswich in the FA Cup 1983 at 22:54 21 Sep 2023
I was there with some school mates. Was 17 at the time. Definitely remember the coins. Also remember throwing a toilet roll across the platform when we got off the train and being asked politely by a police officer to pick it up. TWTD. |

R31 and R32 are sold. R30 seems to be locked, so may potentially go on sale. Probably depends on how big an away crowd Reading want to manage. |
| Forum Thread | The excitement builds at 05:44 22 Apr 2023
Up early as can't sleep. I've been watching Town since 1972 and have been to most home games, each season since then. I've had season tickets apart from the early years, standing on the East terrace. My away attendance has been more sporadic with a few exceptions. eg 1992-93, 37/42 games attended. Today is only my 3rd away of the season, lightweight compared to some of you diehards. However, I'm so excited whilst tense at the same time. Finally a memorable season after so many mediocre or dire ones. It's been a long week waiting for today. Come on Town, let's get this job done! |

And by the time it gets to Stowmarket is bound to be rammed. |

Trying to work out why it tells you to change at Stowmarket when you can get the change at ipswich. |
| Forum Thread | ticket for tomorrow at 19:01 10 Feb 2023
I have a ticket available for tomorrow. SAR area 3. My mate can no longer go. Please PM if interested. Collection from The Dove where I will be from 12,00 until 14.00. |
| Forum Reply | Pubs Saturday at 18:27 6 Feb 2023
Yes, the Dove is a lovely relaxed atmosphere and I take my kids there. Great beer too and decent food. The nearer you get to the ground, the more rowdy or crowded the pubs will be. The Greyhound is a lovely pub, but so crowded now on match days and if you get there much beyond 12.00 you wont get a table. |

Remembering that day like it was yesterday. We didn't play well, but just enough for the draw. Our fans tried to climb the fence to get onto the pitch, then they just opened the gate and we all piled on anyway. I was at the front of the crowd picture in EADT on the Monday morning. Headline of "Town fans invade pitch" Was called in by the headteacher of the school i worked at to explain myself! TWTD. |

Sat in The River End for Norwich away, December 1992. Got head butted at half time in the toilets. Stayed on to celebrate and cheer our two glorious second half goals in the two nil win. God, I was crazy back then! |
| Forum Thread | Broadhead song? at 14:12 11 Jan 2023
I have been thinking what scans for a Broadhead song. How about the old David Johnson the 2nd tune(First Noel). Simple, easy and strong: "Broadhead, Broadhead, Broadhead, Broadhead; Born is the King of Portman Road." |
| Forum Reply | Club have done (are doing) their bit, now over to us at 10:21 10 Jan 2023
I've been struggling with this lack of atmosphere issue for most of my time supporting the club (first match 1972). Over the years I've stood or sat in every stand and enjoyed the relatively few times when most of the crowd do drop their inhibitions for once. I think it's about creating a disconnect. Most people are in some way or other, naturally reserved and have inhibitions in their daily life. It's then about getting those people to drop their natural behaviour and let them selves go. For me that's always been easy, shouting and singing a natural release, watching the game that you've built up to all week, the tension building as each day ticks down to kick off. OR is this a matter more present in Suffolk? Is it true or a stereotype that Suffolk people are more withdrawn and reserved, lacking natural exuberance? |
| Forum Reply | Single Malt Whisky Drinkers at 17:21 9 Jan 2023
Lidl have a range called Ben Bracken. 3 versions of single malt. Islay, Speyside and Highland. I've had the Islay and Highland and preferred the Islay but it's a matter of taste of course. A bargain at £16.99. They've also got some much older matured bottles. These are guarded at the till! £39.99. 43%. |
