Edwards Set to Return at Boro
Tuesday, 4th Sep 2012 18:23

Town skipper Carlos Edwards expects to be over the groin injury which saw him miss the Huddersfield game in time for the away match at Middlesbrough a week on Saturday.

Edwards told the club site: "I was disappointed to miss Saturday’s game but the injury is on the mend and I should be back in training very soon.

“I did the groin early against Carlisle and I knew it was bad straight away. I carried on for another couple of minutes but every time I kicked the ball I felt some discomfort and I told the gaffer straight away. The last thing I wanted to do was make the injury worse.”

Meanwhile, the club continue to wait for confirmation that French midfielder Cheick Kourouma's move went through OK on deadline day.

A little harsh on Ainsley if he is dropped. I didn't think I'd be saying that before Saturday!

Still the Kourouma transfer isn't confirmed. What a saga.

Can't Clegg give them a call?

Very harsh on Ainsley, but I think you have to do it really. He is our captain and one of our best players, he starts off a lot of our attacks.

Ainsley played well on Saturday but Edwards is a better player, that's basically what it comes down to.

How about Ainsley keeps his place and push Edwards up to midfield ??

Least we know we can trust Ainsley now. Very handy to have on the bench the kid can play anywhere it looks like!

Give Ainsley a chance at a run in the team.He played really well against Huddersfield and although Edwards maybe fit i'd have him on the bench.
I also think Ainsley is more of a defensive minded player which will work better away from home. IMO Edwards has always been a right midfield player rathe than right back.

Disagree guys, Edwards has always looked extremely average for us at right midfield. He is a full back in my opinion.

Agree with blue78 also. Unfair on Ainsley to just get dropped out of the side and Edwards would be a great replacement for an out of form JET.

I think Carlos needs to be given time to play in midfield again, I have nothing against him in defense, but I think he'd really be special supplying chops and Murphy.

i,m glad theres in international break for once.we might of lost 6 0 to the donkey lashers but overall i thought if we got one win out of two tough away games we wouldn't be in too bad shape. we have one loss,a few players with little silly injuries.we've got time for the players to recover and reflect on a start we can improve on. i think with carlos out on saturday it may have been the difference between the teams with the two center backs done for pace.his pace has helped us out on many occasions when he comes across to cover breakaways.first name on team sheet for me.

Edwards = Super sub, defense or midfield.

I agree, very harsh on Ainsley he looked good going forward and was also good in defence on Saturday!

Will be good to have him back as Smith will be the other side of the world 3 days before our next match and now that we have given Delaney away we might need Ainsley to fill in at Centre Half.

Keep ainsley in the team! He could be our future as I wouldn't have thought Carlos has that many seasons left! The more ainsley plays the better I can see him becoming.

I have never been a big fan of Carlos Edwards.Yes, he is quick for his age but he makes far too many crazy mistakes in defence, which has cost us dearly time and time again. He was to blame for three of the goals against Blackpool by the way let us not forget...

I dont believe Ainsley or Edwards are good enough to play for a challenging championship side ,neither can defend properly simple as that
