Whight Joins Chelmsford On Loan
Tuesday, 12th Feb 2013 17:00

Left-back Joe Whight has joined Blue Square Bet South side Chelmsford City on loan for the rest of the season.

The 19-year-old former Copleston High School pupil, whose Town contract is up at the end of June, is yet to make a first team appearance for the Blues, although he has been on the bench on a number of occasions, most recently in January in the FA Cup tie at Aston Villa.

While with Chelmsford, who are managed by ex-Blues midfielder Glenn Pennyfather, Whight will still be able to play for Town’s U21s.

I suspect that neither Whight nor Ainsley nor Cormac Burke will be at Town next season

Think it's best for everyone to get the boys out on loan and gain some experience, they'll learn 10x more going out on loan than they'll ever learn in the reserves.

Come back ready to challenge Joe.

Good. Not sure why Carson and maybe Ainsley haven't gone out on loan anywhere yet? Sadly I can't see Ainsley's career progressing any more with us, just can't see him getting a chance. Shame because in the one game he played this season he looked quite good.

Oh dear. Very low level, which is often indicative (e.g., Jai Reason). Let's hope it'll spur the lad on. Good luck, Joe.

That should be a really good move for Joe, key to get some minutes under his belt in proper games.

A loan is a good idea, but it's such a drop down through the leagues it says to me that he won't make it at ITFC. A 19-year-old Championship squad player should surely be able to play at League 2 level if he had a chance of making it in the Championship?!

If we're in Division 1 the youngsters will still be here next season, they'll be mostly all we've got!!!

Have to agree with u all, i think the competitive games will do he the world of good. Mark agreed but lets not forget chelmsford beat a full strength col u team 3-1 in the fa cup.
Shame 1 or 2 others couldn't go out also, but it's generally the loan teams decision as to whether the player is wanted.

Shows how far he is away from the standard required : this surely applies to the likes of Lawrence, Burke and Carson too. Get rid.

@Daleyitfc:
It would be nice if we could "get rid" of "fans" like you

Arc - Born in Chelmsford and had a season ticket there for five years until i took up rugby and then moved to Ipswich. May be a low level, but they play football the right way, get very good crowds (over 3000 against AFC Wimbledon - non league match). They may be low level, but it is the kind of football where he will toughen up and develop (see Ashley Williams recent comments). And don't forget, my low level team beat the mighty Colchester 3-1 in the cup this season - completely outplayed them.

Good luck to the lad, at least he is willing to learn his trade.

Come on City make the Play Off's!!!!.

Come on Town - don't get relegated.

I think this is a good move - Chelmsford play football , not hoof ball like alot of Div One and Two sides- Good test of his character as well
As I said about JAMIE PETERS - All about their DESIRE NOW

I thought he was going to be the next decent player to come through? Going to Chelmsford on loan...oh dear!

Simonsays - nothing wrong with the mighty City. As long as he starts and plays, gets experience then he will benefit and we will benefit. And who knows, his next loan team will be in the football league.

Shows his character that he is determined to make it, whether it is playing for Portsmouth, Wycombe or City.
