[Blog] Back on Track!
Written by Sindre94 on Friday, 5th Aug 2011 23:39

Finally, after a loooong football-free summer, we're back on track with the new nPower League Championship season starting today. The first match kicked off Friday though, where Blackpool beat Hull at the KC Stadium.

Now, I'm fairly confident in our side this season, we've bought seven quality players who I personally feel will add the extra bit to our side. I know football's not a individual game, but I'd like to add a few words regarding each and one of our new players, just to express my opinion on them.

Michael Chopra - A pacey, quick and smart player. He has the extra quality we've lacked for a few years, the quick player up front. I have lots of faith in Chops, and I'm confident he'll get us at least 20 goals this season!

Ivar Ingimarsson - An experienced old man who will add awful lot of know-how to our side, he's been through promotions before, and knows the game. My only concern with him is the pace, he's not very fast, and if we get him a quick partner, it could be extraordinary.

Aaron Cresswell - Exciting young Scouser, who I am confident in. Has a deadly deadball foot, and will link up well with Lee Martin. One for the future.

Nathan Ellington - Supersub, I'm not too sure about this signing, although Paul Jewell got the best out of him at Wigan, you never know. Personally I think he'll have a decent season, and would definitely do a job if he gets played.

Lee Bowyer - three words - a superb signing. Brings tons of experience, and will score important goals for us. I've seen a lot of people judging him based on a few bad incidents earlier in his career, in my opinion, our team needs a bad player who gets tackles in. Welcome Lee Bowyer, I believe in you! Also a leader.

David Stockdale - An excellent goalkeeper, best one available I think. Will bring stability back there, as well as some world class saves. Without any doubt a position we've become stronger in now. But, we have to hope that Mark Schwarzer stays injury free. If he gets injured, they may have to call Stockdale back, and we don't want that to happen.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas (JET) - I really rate this kid. He's big, pacey, strong and has some skills that is incredible. If JET gets his fitness going, and gets the proper motivation, he could easily become a key player for us.

There's no one questioning his potential, just his will to become the ultimate player. I watched an interview with Arsene Wenger and he mentioned that JET was close to a debut on Arsenal's first team, his only problem was the mentality (November 2010).

As for the complete season, I'm positive we'll finish in the play-off area, and hopefully push on the get one of the automatic spots.

Can't wait to get this campaign rolling. In Jewell we trust!

Good post Sindre, agree with it all, sums up our signings, I was worried about this season right up until the Wolves game and now I'm actually buzzing for the rest of the season and I can't wait for the Hull game. Whether we go up or not I'm really looking forward to seeing all the new signings again, COYB in Jewell we trust!

Well written, son! Agree with you about the signings, but we still need to strengthen the team with a pacy central defender, another GK as marton has left and maybe a central defender. Maybe Kennedy will fill in as a holding midfielder - he showed he could against Arsenal and in pre-season.
I'm optimistic about the season - we are looking more solid in all departments than for many years ! Up we go - some time !
