The last thing we need is proportional representation who in their right mind would want coalition after coalition.We do need to find a better way either a single transferable vote until someone had 50%+1 or a second ballot a few days later between the top two for each constituency. Not of course if in the first ballot a candidate polled more than 50% of the votes cast. | |

Coalition's by their very definition ought to be more representative of a broader spectrum of the public. I'm not sure why anyone would be so against them. It's a nonsense really that a party can govern more or less with impunity with under 40% of the public vote. Just over 11m people voted Tory in 2015, should that really give them a mandate to govern the entire country? That's around 1 in 5 of the voting age population. | |
