Hail, Caesar! 12:43 - Jul 12 with 2880 views | unbelievablue | The latest of the Coen Brothers' films. Did anyone else absolutely love it? It's nonsensical balderdash of the highest form. "Would that itweeeeeere so simple."

My top 5 below. I haven't seen everything, including Inside Llewyn Davis. 1. No Country For Old Men 2. True Grit 3. Oh Brother Where Art Thou? 4. Hail, Caesar! 5. Fargo I think they both wrote and directed all of the above other than Fargo which was only directed by Joel.

Hail, Caesar! on 13:05 - Jul 12 with 2808 views | connorscontract | Yes, loads. The styling is superb and I loved Alden Ehrenreich's character. Some good funny bits, and like you are suggesting, a batsh!t crazy plot diversion. And then another. Unpredictable fun. I've got a friend who loves musicals but hated it. I can't get my head round that. I hate musicals, but enjoyed the pastiches of the classic Hollywood Golden Age stuff.

I can only conclude you haven't seen The Big Lebowski given it's not on your list. SB

I think probably it does need a few watches but I used to love it. Probably not seen it for ten years though. SB

The 'no dames' scene is ace. Chaning Tatum is class.

I must admit I didn't expect Chaning Tatum to pop up like that. Massive double take, but like you say it is a bloody great little scene.

Hugely overrated imho. Raising Arizona is their best. One of the best comedies of the past 40 years. Brilliant movie.

Hail, Caesar! on 15:19 - Jul 12 with 2622 views | LankHenners | The Coen Brothers sit comfortably at the top of my 'favourite filmakers' list, and 'Hail Cesar' was another hit. Their knack for making lots of different types of films with different moods and tones but yet still making them quintessentially 'Coen Brothers-y" is something to behold. No Country For Old Men is one of my all-time favourite films, whilst Raising Arizona has some brilliant scenes ("nobody move! Everybody get on the ground!"). Fargo a classic, whilst A Serious Man often goes under the radar but I thought was superb.

Horses for courses innit, I enjoy all of their stuff but Lebowski is probably one of my top three films, hence the avatar.
