My annual 'look at me' Coffee Snob post 11:18 - Feb 26 with 7347 views | wkj | I will be coming home to Ipswich soon after my latest (and hopefully last) trip overseas for slaving to wages. Much to the chagrin to J2Blue and others, I quite like coffee, In fact, I am uncomfortably hipster about the whole thing. I do not use Nero, Starbucks, or Costa - So there is hope for me yet. Any how in Ipswich on Tavern street is a post little shop called Whittard of Chelsea, a shop with chocolate, coffee and Tea (see J2, it may have something for you too) I really fancy trying some of their beans, has anyone been here and have any suggestions? I am looking for a robust flavor but not too acidic, something I can pop in my travel cup and nurse for a while.

Someone on here recommended a coffee called Verve (Goodhouse coffee company) and I thought it was awful - and it was tres expensive. When I can be bothered (not often as I am a lazy arse) I use this stuff, it's the best coffee I have tasted in UK (home made stuff that is) http://www.coffeecompass.co.uk/shop/espresso-range/brighton-lanes-blend-500g.htm

It is, but I love it a latte, so it was worth the drive.

My annual 'look at me' Coffee Snob post on 11:27 - Feb 26 with 6012 views | footers | Picked up some weasel coffee on my recent travels and it's absolutely superb. Would definitely recommend splurging for some if you don't mind the unique methodology. Also been drinking it Viet-style with condensed milk. Not one for the coffee purists but just got a bit hooked on it!

Ha. I did wonder as I wrote it. Coffee is very subjective.

You might want to try my regular coffee I can get from Sainsburys now, its nice to have something I like from the supermarket - https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/shop/gb/groceries/modern-standard-guatemala-beans-2 As for weasel coffee, i am not sure I have earned such a lavish reward JR 😂

I think when I was going through a coffee fad I found a coffee specialist online in Suffolk that had a walk in store - might have been Leiston way from memory.

I went through a condensed milk stage and put loads of weight on. I can’t pinpoint any other reason why I ballooned.

My annual 'look at me' Coffee Snob post on 11:51 - Feb 26 with 5934 views | BrightonEye | Taste in coffee is always an absurdly personal matter. One person's nectar is another's poison. I'm an espresso nut, currently using a Sage Smart Pro grinder and Gaggia Classic machine. If you like a high roast coffee with a chocolatey flavour, try going for the Waitrose Italian beans (a steal at about £2.50 for 250 g). Best I've ever experienced, having sampled loads of beans from different sources. But that's a strong coffee — many obviously prefer something much lighter/fruitier - *Colombian or Kenyan, for example. As for Whittards, I used to enjoy their After Dinner beans. But they closed down loads of branches and then upped the prices. Weird, that. *Colombian is very popular in Brighton right now, particularly the Izquierdo...

I’ll try those Waitrose ones as I always seem to be in there scavaging around the reduced section.

Caramel & vanilla both of which I thought were disgusting. Strangely enough the amaretto got used up very quickly and the others are still virtually full. *October last year.

My annual 'look at me' Coffee Snob post on 12:11 - Feb 26 with 5854 views | The_Great_Cornholio | Some of the best beans I've had are the Papua New Guinean beans sold by Waitrose. If you're grinding your own beans, I noticed a marked difference in taste when I switched from a chop grinder to a burr grinder (chop grinders cause friction, heat and ultimately singed beans).
| I need TP, TP for my bunghole. |

Absolutely. And blade grinders produce uneven granules too, unlike burr grinders. Huge effect on resulting flavour and consistency of results. But they're not cheap. My Sage Grinder Pro is 'entry level' at £200. You can pay well north of £500 for a decent one.

Coffeelink are superb. They roast the beans locally, and serve excellent coffee. They're generally in the market, but also have a place at the station. Their trade is roughly 50/50 beans and drinks. They're also in the FanZone at ITFC.

Really? I picked up one of these for around £30 https://www.johnlewis.com/de-longhi-kg79-coffee-grinder/p507144 Seems to do the job ok - unless I am missing something.

You can get the beans whole or ground. They do Blue Mountain, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Mexico..etc so you should find something there to your taste.

As ever, you get what you pay for. My £40 Krups burr grinder didn't last very long. Most of the cheaper machines don't grind finely enough for espresso. But if you're grinding for cafetiere, no problem.
