Ross V Lampard 10:19 - May 21 with 2968 views | GlebeTractor | If Sunderland are in talks, I expect he'll go there, nearer to Scotland, bigger club, great fanbase, easier task to get them promoted from L1 to make his name in English football. If I was in his shoes, I know who I'd pick as my first venture into English management. Lampard, with the right backroom staff advising and assisting him, I feel could be a great choice. Well educated, played at the highest level and always seems very professional when doing punditry. But, my money is on Hurst...

Good point, well presented. Time will tell, I think it's a case of which risk, is the lesser risk... [Post edited 21 May 2018 10:29]

Do you not feel that the expectation and chances of gaining promotion in L1 is a lot easier than the Championship though? Especially now they are being taken over and will have wonga to spend.

Will they have Wonga to spend? We have yet to see. Very little is known about their new owners.

We've actually had 15 managers in 82 years. I do think he might choose Sunderland over us though if he had the choice.

Good luck to him if he does choose Sunderland. At the end of the day, we do want a manager that would choose us over a rival team. Choosing Sunderland may indicate that he was not the man for us after all.

I just think it might be a location advantage for his family. It's only a hunch.

Me too, if you could move (not actual km's) but 200km instead of 600km away, for a similar deal, I think you would.

If that were to be the case, then he's probably not the man for us anyway. He'll have a pretty limited career if he bases it on commuting distance from Scotland. Cant take long to fly from Glasgow to Stanstead anyway.

Ross V Lampard on 10:50 - May 21 with 2788 views | itfc48 | I personally don't get the infatuation with Ross. Yes he's had a promising start to his managerial career however there's no denying that the level in the Scottish Championship is very poor (I'd say lower League 1 to upper League 2). I like the idea of Lampard as he's played under some of the greatest managers of the current era and being the smart lad he is there's no doubt he'd have picked up a few ideas. There's also the fact that given our current financial situation we either need somebody who can pick up lower league gems for peanuts or use their contacts to get prem loans or decent bosmans. Lampard would have the obvious advantage for the latter. My personal preference would be Lampard or Hurst.

When the Cowleys were mentioned, people said that it was too much of a jump in quality from League 2 to the Championship. Id guess the Scottish champ is not better than League 2.

I don't see this 'Lampard will be able to get us loanees etc' Why so. What if players don't want to take the risk of playing for an untried manager? It's alright having contacts. Keane had contacts. This gave us Martin! I don't see how we can take a massive risk such as Lamps. UNLESS it involved Harry which scares me even more. [Post edited 21 May 2018 10:59]

Possibly about promotion, but not guaranteed , but why go to league 1 and try and get to the Championship, when he could take over at Ipswich and already be in the Championship.
