With Paul Hurst favouring a 4141.... 08:29 - Jun 11 with 2073 viewsitfcjoe

.....what would you say is our strongest starting team currently?

I'd go with this:

---------------------------Bart----------------------------
Spence-------Chambers------Webster----Knudsen
--------------------------Skuse---------------------------
Ward-----------Adeyemi---------Huws-------Nydam
-------------------------Waghorn-------------------------

We are very short of numbers in the wide areas, i wonder if Hurst will be tempted to look at putting Bishop out in the wider right role as do think he looked good there last season and there are so many bodies in the way.

Our 2nd XI will look something like this
---------------------------Gerken------------------------------
Emmanuel--------Smith------Woolfenden----Kenlock
--------------------------Downes---------------------------
Sears------------Bishop---------Dozzell-----------Rowe
-------------------------Garner-------------------------

Extra players not in either XI
Wright
Webber
Cotter
McKendry
McLoghlin
Drinan
Folami
Morris

Yer, I'd say that is more than likely the best starting XI. As you say, could really do with a couple of wide players, plus a right back in my opinion (although Emmanuel may be the solution).

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

Your 1st team isn't far off, I'd say.

The central midfield is still a bit of a mystery — last season was almost a wasted exercise. So maybe there's a good chance for a Dozzell, Bishop or Downes getting in there.

I like the Ward/Spence and Nydam/Knudsen combinations though. For me, the highlight of the end of the season was Nydam emerging as a genuine left midfielder who looks to have added a lot of composure and control to his game as well as being a threat with his energy when he broke forward.

I won't settle until I have my Dozzell - Bishop - Nydam - Downes dream team in midfield.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

... when you have the teams presented as you have, that we need a new right back, centre back (competition), midfield creative general, out and out winger and striker.

I do think we need to challenge Skuse, hopefully that will come from Downes.

But Huws is more a number 10 in my view, than a playmaker, and Adeyemi is a ball carrier....

We still miss that cool head, get on the ball, move the all, open play type addition.

A better Garvan, a new Magilton.

That is all.

No he's more an Adeyemi type....

I think you're confusing him with his father.

Do keep up.

I think we have to go into this season, from a budget perspective expecting that Dozzell, Bishop, Huws and especially Adeyemi are going to be unfit. I don't think you can build a plan around them.

I suppose you could suggest, "hope it works and then use Premier loan market if it doesn't" - but too risky.

We need another midfielder of quality, with an eye for a pass. And I still think we need to effectively challenge Skuse with Downes and one other.

But of source I could be wrong.

Andre pulls the strings in front of the defence, that's his don position.
