It's the same ref deciding whether to over-rule isn't it so I don't think it is like cricket where that is the case.
I think it is whether the ref decides the footage allows him to see something he couldn't see clearly at the time. | |

Seemed to me that the referee was under pressure to not hold the game up for too long and only saw the clipped heel after the initial tackle. If its complicated enough to warrant several viewings then its not a clear and obvious mistake |  |

I have only seen it once in slow motion and wasn't concentrating that closely, but I thought he clipped his heel in such a fashion it was likely to prevent him continuing to chase the ball. I also thought he did so as a deliberate action after the follow-through from the initial challenge. I may be wrong but would be interested to see it again if I was that bothered.
Overall, from what I saw, the better team won. Australia will be encouraged by the fact they laboured so hard in order to do so. | |

There will always be opinions in football but I think justice has been done.
However, I do not think a major injustice would have been done had VAR not existed despite the likelihood of a different result. | |

He fouled him, and the slight touch he got on the ball wasn't enough to divert it from the attacker. Greaseman could have scored if he wasn't brought down, so it's a penalty. |  | | |
