Can I ask about sci-fi films again? 20:54 - Aug 15 with 6223 views | BrixtonBlue | I know I asked this a while back but I got some great responses and I can't find the thread now (plus there might be new people about). Give me your best sci fi films. I particularly like 'real' sci-fi (i.e. Arrival, Chronicle, Cloverfield) and head-F stuff like Inception.

Yep, done that. Wasn't blown away, but maybe I should give it another go? Shades of the more recent The Martian if I remember it correctly.

A little and corporate greed! Great performance from Rockwell, underrated actor IMHO.

Cheers, i remember now. You recommended a few good ones. What was that time jump/parallel universe one with the party in a house where they find another house with another version of themselves in it? That was very good.

Having read about it on IMDB, a sci-fi comedy doesn't really appeal if I'm honest.

It's not really a "laugh out loud", or daft, kind of comedy. It is Carpenter, after all. Also quite influential on other films, such as Alien.

Can I ask about sci-fi films again? on 22:23 - Aug 15 with 2678 views | Hiphopopotamus | Agree with Moon, Primer and Her. All excellent. Would throw in Triangle if you like cheap sci fi oddities like Coherence. BladeRunner 2049 is better than the original and flopped even harder at the cinema. If you liked Primer then you should also like Upstream Colour - Shane Currath’s second film. Sunshine is a good sci fi in space. Ghost in the Shell - orginal anime and not the live action remake. Inspired many better known films. Children of Men is sci fi but in a very subtle way. Under the Skin is one of the most interesting films made of late - an alien visits Scotland to study humans. Edit: agree with A Scanner Darkly (very surreal) and Another Earth too. Brit Marling has done a few good sci fi things. Edit 2: Ex Machina is a very well made, small scale sci fi which keeps you guessing. Vanilla Sky is very flawed and very 90s but also interesting and underrated. Arrival is one of the best recent sci fi films and by the same director as Enemy and Sicario. [Post edited 15 Aug 2018 22:39]
