It's not a great result for May though and for once JRM had a point about the voting split. It's irrelevant overall though and she needs to refocus and work on brexit.

She'll fight on in though and the shambles will continue.

Why that vile kook is given so much of a platform is quite beyond me.

Her party opponents have shot their bolt. Now they can only frustrate and hamper, not replace. Poor timing and overconfidence.

They have got one card left, which is supporting a Labour no-confidence motion over the line. Bit nuclear though!

Well if they were nuts they could replace via a GE but would never happen.

Nice to see Labour immediately rambling on about a GE though.....

Not dead and buried by the hard-core nutters who would take over but certainly wounded enough to deliver a Remain result.

It's too serious to enjoy at the moment, but I hope I can look back on this in a year and take pleasure in it.

Not much sign of his much vaunted manners there, just an overwhelming stench of sour grapes.

That would surely signal the end of the Tory party if they went down that road.

Altho she apparently said if there was a GE sooner than when it's due in 2022, she would lead the party into it.

Over 160 Tory MPs are on the Government payroll (having a direct role in government policy) so 117 'independent' MPs is a substantial number, irrespective of my first point.

TM has proven she cannot command a majority in the House, therefore she should resign

If it was a budget/Queen's speech which had actually been defeated, that might be true. But it isn't and no actual division has taken place.

Governments are defeated in the Commons fairly often without falling.

Can't see Corbs playing his no confidence card any time soon. He'd have to own Brexit.

I thought she said she wouldn't contest the next GE but was fuzzy about when should would leave and what to do in an early election.

I think a lot might have voted on the first assumption, if she tried to run it would be total anarchy.

And on the payroll thing it was a secret ballot. Nobody can lose their job over which way they voted.

Obviously we only have what MPs who were in the Committee Room have revealed. However most seem to agree that she pledged to stand down before the next scheduled General Election, but refused to say she would go if one happened earlier.

Rees Mogg is a complete idiot. As it was a secret ballot how on earth does that prat know how people voted.

What an arrogant piece of work!
