I'm sure that was the present I really wanted but never got even though I'd pestered my mum for weeks. I was gutted Xmas morning and must've made her feel so bad with my mood as I always got nice stuff. When you look back it was basically an airfix model on a piece of string!!!

Mid 60s, I'm around 10 years old and coming downstairs xmas morning to see my Subbuteo stadium all set up with floodlights, barriers etc and teams lined up was a magical moment. Errr, downside, ..my 'flick' team of choice in those days was Chelsea and actually the regular kids not one had Town as their team!

Evel Knievel wind-up bike. Hours of fun building ramps with books and sending him down the stairs.
Never worked out how to post pictures, but I’m sure someone can post a picture of the best toy ever for me!

To be honest, I hadn’t until I opened it on Christmas morning.

Totally out of the blue. Was expecting a Subbuteo stadium.

What a good game it was, though.

We made up other Airfix kits and put the loop on the top of the fuselage for the string and then we extended both the string and runway - we had everything from a Sopwith Camel to a Harrier rigged up to that - and then we took it outside and started real warfare with gat guns shooting them down. "Isn't it?", Isn't it though?", "Standard!"

Just one small problem; sell their houses to who, Ben? Fcking Aquaman?
