Keys, Richard on 14:06 - Jan 13 with 1214 views | WD19 | I see some parallels with the situation here with Mick. Benitez clearly likes many elements of his job - he wants to live in the UK, he is paid well and he loves the adulation of the fans......but in an ideal world the owner would be spending more and the team would be competing higher up. Given the absence of the later, what he absolutely can’t do as an employee is chuck the owner under a bus. If he doesn’t like it he should move on, not hang around poisoning the well. This is where Mick, for the most part, did better. He respected his employer first and foremost and didn’t try and leverage the fans to the detriment of the stability of the club....no matter how frustrating and tempting it must have been. | | | |
