Guthrum's Estimated Final Table on 11:16 - Feb 20 by LeagueOne | The difference was McCarthy signed Henderson, Stearman, Ndaw, McGoldrick and utilized players like Cresswell, Chambers, and Murphy more effectively. Lambert has been able to bring in Judge, Keane, Quaner, Bree, Dawkins and Elder. The standard of signing has definitely dropped since 2012 which I expect is a status/budget thing more than a Lambert thing. |
Thing is, when Mick came in, he had decent players to work with. What PL started with was a shambles.

We're then going to hit a streak of utter spawn the likes of which have never been seen. And then get relegated anyway on goal difference. Come on gang. I know it's delusional but this is football fandom. We can still stay up. It's not fooking over. COYFB

Guthrum's Estimated Final Table on 11:18 - Feb 20 by Bluefish | McGoldrick was out of favour at Forest and on loan at Coventry. Is that really a worse signing than Quaner on paper? Stearman out of favour any different to Bree etc etc. |
I'd say McGoldrick was a far better prospect than Quaner, given the former was banging them in for Coventry in League One.

Probably more to do with him knowing how to get a lot from not a lot Lambert is good at writing letters though

Guthrum's Estimated Final Table on 10:59 - Feb 20 by LeagueOne | It's pretty damning stuff either way - would that be the record points low for the league at this level? |
No. We passed Rotherham's total from a couple of years ago the other day.

I'm not using that as a stick to beat Mick with, just he had a very experienced side that needed a bit of guidance from the sh*t show that Jewell had tried putting together. You have to admit the squad was considerably weaker than when Mick took over, and PL didn't have the luxury of the loan window.

I agree with your assessment of MM which is why although it was next to impossible for it to happen he would have been the most likely person to have got us out of the Hurst constructed mess. I do not agree with your assessment of PL though because although I have been surprised and disappointed that he has not yet got us closer to survival I think that there is a hell of a lot more to him than writing letters-although one of his letters was to me.

I actually half expect us to be 2 or 3 points clear of the drop with two matches left, only to lose them (to Sheffield United & Leeds, let's not forget) and still go down. Like a microcosm of 2001/02.
