Friars' main achievement was to enable us to postpone matches when Wright and Scowy were away for England U21 matches - that gave us the three players we needed.

I remember him very well. It was clear for a while that he had major lifestyle issues, well before the final police incident. Such a shame for such a talent. He was a nice kid then, and it looks like he eventually became a fulfilled adult.
Does it all come back to how football clubs look after their players, of whatever age? Could this still happen now? Maybe it does and I don't know. |  | | |
