Is it possible that another season in this division would benefit Town?
I'm thinking if we could hold on to Wolfie and Downes players like Dobra El miz Lancaster Nydam Morris McGavin etc might get more first team chances and become established, PL permitting. 😱

Downes is fantastic for his age, in my view. Can see him playing in the Premier League as a holding midfielder.
Woolfie isn’t quite ready for that, but can certainly see a Champ club snapping him up in the summer if we don’t go up. |
Agreed. He is not the strongest but has the tenacity, stamina, work rate and aggression to make a very good DM. Thinking pragmatically, If Town are not promoted Downes has to leave for the sake of his career while another year at this level will do Woolfenden good. [Post edited 28 Feb 2020 22:02]

Wolfy and Downes aren't perfect. I might be proved wrong but I don't get the overwhelming assumption that they'll both go this summer. |
I agree there are good promising players at just about ever club , i hate to say it but i have just watched Cantwell and Lewis at Norwich . If the desire is there we can keep our best young players . |  | | |

The Norwich players were teenagers playing in The Championship and are now Premier League players in their early 20s and when Norwich go down the players you mentioned plus Aarons, Godfrey etc will be looking to move on. Downes and Woolfenden are the same age as the Norwich lads yet are playing in League One. If we do not promoted next season Dozzell, Idris, Lankester and Dobra will be off. League One is not the best place to develop a career. | | | |

if staying down means we bomb out Skuse judge Sears et all that are not taking us forward , strengthen the spine with some nasty league 1 leaders who can motivate and lead and play the kids of nydam, Lankaster el moz , Dobra , Folami round them while keeping Jackson Norwood and KVY then yeah.

This is right.
We haven't improved since last season so if we did somehow manage to fluke a promotion we'd be exactly the same as last season and will really struggle in the Championship.
We need to build a new team capable of stepping up to the Championship and succeeding, Downes and Woolfenden have take their chance this season, but not many more have! Hopefully more youngsters will be given better opportunities next season and most will take them so if we can get promoted we'll have most of a team of Championship level players rather than the handful we have now. |  |
