Brexit, worse by the day 12:21 - Mar 2 with 4400 views | HARRY10 | From today - "This is the best case scenario for a US/UK trade deal a rise in GDP of 0.16%. Compared with govt estimates that 5% will be knocked off GDP growth over the next 15 years under a "Canada-style" trade deal with the EU. 8% off under WTO model" FT But fear not there's always a Tory at hand to lie "This is a huge opportunity for both Britain and our single biggest trading partner, the United States" Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP Is shen really that thick that she doesn't know that the trade with the US is way, way below that of what it is with the EU (one sixth to be exact) ? Or does she think we are all so thick as to not know ? However the real point here is that yet more evidence is emrging that the 'sunny uplands' guff was just that, guff. And given how long these figures have been known the Leave politicians were lying through their teeth when they were claiming that the UK would be better off. I expect more of what a sh it show it all is during the day.

Brexit, worse by the day on 21:22 - Mar 2 by Swansea_Blue | They’re the Government’s own figures. And we didn’t chose Covid-19; Brexit is simply unnecessary self-harm and hasn’t been imposed on us. |
According to you, yes serious self harm. Maybe you will have to get over and see what happens.

Not only according to me, according to the Government's own figures. Added to the concerns of a whole host of bodies that represent the interests of UK activities, from business to science, to security, to health...etc. From a personal perspective, it's having an adverse impact in the research sector at the moment. I'm losing colleagues, so that's the UK losing top talent; a science brain drain. We're down on financial forcasts (= jobs) and we're facing a cliff edge when the EU ffunding dries up (60% of our budget is EU funding , equating to several £millions per year). I appreciate you're removed now, but for some of us this is very real and dominating our work. We know what's happening - it's our day job. For others it's dominating their personal circumstances as well.

You haven't been following things clearly. Rather, on your first post you seem to have made some assumption the thread was about [chlorinated] chicken imports et al and went with that. People are feeling affected by the whole thing. If it doesn't trouble you, fine, no need to make daft, irrelevant comments. [Post edited 3 Mar 2020 0:22]

Brexit, worse by the day on 20:08 - Mar 2 by mos | Your posts would be much more credible if you reduced the aggression in your posts. Stopping the swearing and slandering would be a start. It makes you appear very deeply unsatisfied with the world. |
Perhaps you could point out to us all the 'slander' or perhaps you mean libel. Either way do point it out where in this thread I have done so Swearing ? I hardly think the use of the expression sh itshow is that offensive, and only used once. As to posting in what I would call a robust fashion I would look at the subject matter. Those of us who opposed this nonsense are now feeling the effects...being imposed on us. As to aggression please point out where I have made any aggressive remarks or threats to any poster. I haven;t, nor have any thought of ever doing so. However nothing I have stated on here I have not said to face of those I refer to. Not all brexit voters for obvious reason of logistics but any that spouting their ill informed nonsense. As to what I would say to MPs that is restricted by their wanting to stay away from the public, as to "It’s the name calling of MPs without any decent reason" Again please quote me on the names I have used. As to no reason...jeez An MP who has caused suicides amongt the disabled (IDS) an habitual liar (Johnson) a minister who on Sunday was happy to tell a bare faced lie (Patel) and caused a previous staff member to be paid £25.000 as a payount due to (Patel's) abuse. And if my tone of voice or turn of phrase stops you following my points then shame on you, as nothing I post cannot be easily found on the internet so you can quite easily not read my flowery prose and read it for yourself Assuming that is your real interest

The tone of your posts largely come across as aggressive to me. You sometimes present opinions as facts, press articles as the truth if they favour your opinion and you present your version of the future as a certainty. You also have a habit of painting those who disagree with your views as ‘brexiteers’ and/or ‘tories’ which isn’t necessarily correct. None of this is good for debate in my view.

What is good for debate is actually responding/refuting ideas put up by others - not whining about the tone they are put up in. Nor making allegations of 'naughty' name calling that are not correct.
