Can someone with more grey matter than I advise how this pandemic is going to be extinguished?

By all accounts it isn't like SARS and is quite easy to transmit. Considering it jumped from a Pangolin or Bat to one person (lets just say in November) and has since covered the globe with lightening speed how can it be eradicated seeing that it is impossible to get back to zero infection.

TWTD assorted loons and crackpots need not reply.

Have to say I’m not doing great with this pandemic isolation now. Chose to stay at uni in my house to shield my kid brother (he’s high risk for the virus) and now the boredom has turned into nothingness. Can feel myself slipping into old habits here. I’ve had trouble with my mind in the past but never anxiousness. Feel like that’s coming now. It’s a draining one every day at the moment. My brothers workmate died of it a couple of days ago too which just enforced that I can’t really go home in case my brother gets it to him from when I’ve gone shopping here. I mean everyone’s in the same boat and I’m lucky that I’m not in financial strife because of it so I shouldn’t really moan. Don’t mean to be a bit look at me there but I needed to rant. TWTD is great for a rant.

Reading TWTD being 99% Coronavirus related (fair enough) and seeing the news being focused solely on it just adds to the jazz. With that in mind, I might be off here for a bit. Hopefully footy will be back soon, everyone will be alright and we can all relax again. Incredible what the NHS are dealing with. Crazy times. Stay safe lads.

Just because everyone's in the same boat to varying degrees doesn't mean you should be feeling any better. Rant away.

Maybe admin should have another subject thread for non-CV related stuff.

Keep well.

OK, so how long is it going to be until one is allowed to go within 2 metres, and/or have physical contact, with someone who is not from the same household as oneself?

Weeks? Months?

(I know that no one on here could possibly know the answers to these questions, obviously).

With 2meter distancing not a good time to single. Perhaps your hand will be your best friend

Keep an eye on yourself fella.

Best thing to do, as someone else here suggested, is to find yourself a hobby. Put together a jigsaw, teach yourself how to play a (cheap) instrument, get hold of a book on how to draw cartoons, learn to knit...

I spent some time over Xmas making a list of every match I’ve ever been to (or those I can remember, of have evidence of - tickets and programmes etc). I’m going to start doing the same on gigs this weekend, also backed up by tickets etc.

these might not seem your thing, but there will be something. It doesn’t matter what it is, as long as you find it diverting and time-filling.

Most anything you might need to do any of these you can get from Online.

Now it exists, there's no chance of it being exterminated (a la smallpox) in any kind of reasonable timeframe.

The most likely result will be a large degree of public immunity, aided by vaccination, with only the mildest strains still circulating (causing least harm, they stand the best chance of being passed on). Perhaps the occasional flare-up. A situation much like that for Flu, maybe even akin to Bubonic Plague, which is very rare nowadays.

It's possible it will never be exterminated because it seems to have a non-human reservoir which wasn't the case for smallpox.

As you say, vaccination and then diligence seems the like future path now.
