Still angry over people sitting under trees? on 09:11 - Apr 15 by Pinewoodblue | When you sit on a park bench you put yourself at risk as the last person who sat there may have left behind them some trace of the virus. You touch the bench seat, you touch your face, rub your eyes and you have it. Don’t waste time finding ways to justify bending the rules just follow them |
Eh? I've not said anything like bending the rules. It was a discussion on the science of how the droplets persist. SB [Post edited 15 Apr 2020 9:16]

That’s why earlier in the thread you wrote All the benches are closed off by police tape in our local park.

I think you need to go back and read the thread. Jeera said: "Maybe sections of parks could be taped off to ensure distancing. There is still the added issue of benches etc. Could park keepers be systematically spraying and wiping apparatus? " My reply to him was that benches are already taped off in our park. I've not once advocated bending the rules. If anything I've done the opposite. SB

I think you would be one of the last people to suggest bending the rules on this.

One side fo the story on each of these. Two people running past an old man? They complain they live together and didnt deserve criticism- but just how close were they to the bloke, panting and spluttering as they ran? Kid running off from parents- people are understandably concerned a yong kid wont keep distance. Could it be that people are justifiably and reasonably scared and concerned about this virus, and the prospects of taking it back to their own homes (where vulnerable people may reside) and have experienced others being careless and stupid in their failures? Could that have as much to do with it as petty minded whining?

There's definitely an element of "I'm all right Jack, and I'll do as I please". Some people think my sister has been over-cautious, but she had a heart attack only a few years ago and understandably doesn't want to be put at risk by other people's selfishness. I've had the odd smirk from one or 2 staff in a local shop who seem to think the distancing doesn't apply to them. What's the point of me and another shopper keeping well apart in an aisle if then one of the staff walks down the same aisle past both of us. Speak up and they think you're making a fuss. Again, for me, I've had problems with my immunity and have no one here to look out for me, so I try to take reasonable steps to keep myself safe. It's no good if some idiot thinks it's all some joke and undoes all my efforts.

Agree entirely. I am careful and respectful in my small local co op. I go the otehr way if someone is in the aisle, I wait if someone is at a shelf I want to use. I don't pass anyone. At least one idiot on every visit just walks straight past me to get where they want. My wife is in a vulnerable category. I do not want to take the virus home with all that may entail.

I'm doing ok there atm but thanks. I've been fortunate enough to get the odd delivery. It's really the bits you need here and there and it would be no big deal if everyone just kept to the same rules inside these places. Last year I had some deficiency and a poor immunity, so was having blood tests for a few months on a fortnightly basis. If this had happened then I'd have been in trouble. It does play on your mind and makes me irritated that people who don't know your situation take it for granted. You know what I mean. I try to assume that everyone I encounter may be in that position, then you can't go far wrong.
