Missing My Fishing. on 14:12 - Apr 24 by Lord_Lucan
As much as I would love to chuck a few kilos of corn out I don't think allowing fishing is a good idea. During this lockdown never has "Give em an inch and they'll take a mile" been so true.
People are basically idiots and using any excuse to get out, I have to admit although I have been very good I am dropping into The Range to buy some play sand on the way home so I am not without some blame - however I wouldn't act like some imbeciles are and it seems to be mostly libtard southeners who are doing it.
This is the thing, I've just come back from b&q and the car park as you can imagine is pretty full, took half an hour to get it, yet I can't walk down to the river and fish, where pegs are at least six metres apart...
It's just daft..

These two lads gave up their day jobs working for Nash to follow their dream of Carp fishing full time and making a living out of it, god if only eh...
You may have seen it but worth sharing...

Personally I am from the Chris Yates version of carp fishing.... once upon a time it used to be the most exciting form of fishing.... the great unknown. Now everyone is fishing for the known.... fish that are yo-yoed in and out so often they are on first name terms with the ultracultists using three rods and a barrow load of unecessary guff to haul them out.
Trout fishing is experiencing a return to split cane..... maybe carp fishing will be a tad more rewarding with one richard walker mk 4?

Yeah agree, I used to carp fish but hated what it was becoming, lakes full of lads with buzzers constantly bleeping away day and night, the fish didn't stand a chance, the welfare of the fish means a lot to me too but for many it doesn't seem to now. I'd ban night fishing for starters just to give the carp a chance, another story..
These days I river barbel fish only, much harder method of fishing but a whole lot fairer on the fish, they're in fantastic condition as a result, it used to be that you started fishing for small stuff and learnt from there, how to play a fish etc, now these lads turn up and just want to dive straight in hunting down big doubles without a clue on what to do having not learnt their trade so to speak...,battered fish as a result in many waters, so sad to see..

Thanks for sharing that. I've just finished working and sat down to watch it with a beer. Agree on the commercialisation aspect. I'm a Yates kind of guy too - at least in terms of preferring non-commercial fishing and avoiding the crowds, if not going kitted out in an old tweed jacket!
We've got very little coarse fishing in this neck of the woods, and I miss it. Sounds strange as there are some pretty decent fly rivers around but I've never experienced that type of fishing so it doesn't have the emotional attachment.

Yeah their videos are really well put together imo, I don't get the chance to river fish as much as I'd like too so something like watching what these lads get up to is some sort of substitute at least, worth looking at their other videos, certainly making a living out of it with the subs they have now.....their Koi carp video is an excellent watch..

They used to write an article each month in IYCF magazine. Good all round anglers.
We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub.

Some bloke in the midlands was so obsessed with catching a certain catfish in a Hertfordshire lake that he used to go down every weekend.
Ended up with him getting booted out of the house by his wife so he left his job and lived in a tent near to the lake.
Not sure if he ever caught it - or even if it ever existed.
“Hello, I'm your MP. Actually I'm not. I'm your candidate. Gosh.”

Hah... a similar thing happened at the pits behind an office estate on the outskirts of st ives I used to work in occasionally a few years back... there was one 50lb carp called 'the fat lady' or some such label.
On going for a walk around there you'd always seem guys camping out trying to catch it...then some addict called terry hearn publicised it and it was soon deceased
The wierd thing is that its part of a group of pits some of which i have never, ever seen anyone fishing..... everyone chases the same fish.

Terry Hearn was one of the first "Celebrity" fishermen.
It always amazes me how these lakes make any money. My old syndicate was about £100 a year and they had three lakes, all of which need stocking and maintaining.
Obviously membership is capped as well.

If fishing were given the green light there'd be all manner of first-time hipster anglers messing up the lakes and streams. Now I'm used to seeing dodgy clothes and facial hair among anglers, but handlebar 'taches and three-quarter length jeggings are a step too far.
Interesting aside to the ins and outs of angling at the present time.... the Cambridge Stasi have been busy raiding lakes in the area, some well known others a little off the beaten track. One lake near Mepal that is dormant after the leisure centre went belly up had a cluster of anglers, none of whom came from closer than 22 miles.... and one cameall the way from wolverhampton to a lake with no fishing rights or recent history..
So there you have it, fishing can get you a criminal record.
Makes a visit to the currently abandoned lake at the proposed Hauwei premises near sawston a risky proposition - as Cambridge's finest will be watching.

But the trout and carp in there are huge
Hmm, I'm not certain that they need to go to Fen Lake outposts to check up on miscreant anglers. There was a group of people fishing the Cam in the middle of Cambridge last Monday.
