This is Bristol Rovers winger Alex Rodman talking about the situation in a leaked recording. Seems not improbable that it was the source of the Daily Mail story.

Further to the League One/Two not being completed story on 18:19 - Apr 30 with 2904 views
Clubs from league one and two are meeting this afternoon to discuss easing their financial pressures by capping spending on player's salaries. One scheme supported by the group of chairman and chief executives would cap players salaries at League One between 2m-3.5m. An alternative proposal includes extension of the current system- Salary Costs Management Protocol- which allows a percentage of turnover to be spent on salaries, ensuring clubs can cover players contracts. The body's intention still remains to complete the season, with clubs playing all remaining fixtures within a 56-day period.

In many ways the effect of CoVid on professional football Clubs could ( should), be a golden opportunity for the game to change direction and get the game back on tract financially. Beyond the scope of sport , the World wide finances must surely but surely be something that needs resetting ( with central banks almost having to write off Nations debts Due to CoVid .
Just comes across incredibly naïve. There is a global pandemic that will fundamentally change how we live our lives for a decent period. No one cares about Lincoln and Shrewsbury battling it out for tenth.
Football should get its house in order before blindly carrying on.

It won't carry on, everyone needs to realise that the season will end as is, PL, Germany and Italy are holding on for dear life, PL clubs are due another £37m in July, as much as they won't want to lose that, there is no conceivable way they can re start it.
Aguero has come out and said he feels scared to play, Simon Jordan (as much as I find him odious) made a great point about corporate manslaughter if someone gets it and dies, reality is, football is finished for the foreseeable and unfortunately as a consequence, lots of clubs will go to the wall, but it's not as if any of us didn't see this bubble bursting at somepoint, Covid has just hastened it.

It should be a golden opportunity - but it won't be. Greed will always win through.

Realistically the Championship is the issue in everything - in the PL clubs generally live within their means and the same in Leagues 1 and 2. The only issue at lower levels is cash flow as owners don't have the money to pay the bills on a monthly basis at times and get in a big muddle.
How that works I don't know, because the Champ is caught between the PL and L1 which are so far apart.

Agree, the three Clubs set to lose the most in all this are the three Clubs set to be promoted to the Prem, the three Clubs due to be relegated from the Prem will have parachute payments etc which certainly soften the blow..

Very true.
And even within the Champ there is a big disparity between the parachute clubs and the rest.
In some sort of perverse way, I hope COVID does as much damage as possible to football as it will force a complete re-build. (I hate the word "re-set", but that is probably more apt).

Not sure that's right re the Premier League, despite the huge sums coming in most of them make losses.

I disagree. If no football is possible with fans until May 2021 - which is perfectly possible - Premier League clubs will lose about £1bn in match day revenue, to say nothing of the inevitable loss of broadcasting income, and as many of them already lose money each year, some will face financial melt-down.
Looking more and more likely that League One/Two will not be completed. If the Prem is looking at neutral grounds etc then how could League One/Two be played. It is the TV money that is driving the Prem return. There is a TV audience for the Prem, there isn't one for the lower leagues. Playing league one/two behind closed doors will cost the clubs further money rather than bringing money in if there is substantial testing etc to be carried out.

With the PL it's the terrifying (to the PL) prospect of refunding Sky/BT the money for the no-show of games...
