New Kit on 01:16 - May 24 by bazgammon | can we get rid of the three stars from the badge. we have been rubbish since they were introduced. stars should only be allowed on champions league winners badges . |
So you want the star taken off the England badge too?

No, because in international football winning the wc is the ultimate accolade and only 8 nations have ever done so. At club level if you decide to put a star on for every trophy some clubs would have shirts like the us flag. im saying only the ultimate club achievement (champions league titles for European teams) is the only thing worthy of a star in my opinion at club level. The three stars on the Ipswich badge (while we have pride in them ) are no where near as deserving as say Forest's two stars.

I'd disagree re Forest. The three titles we've won are all prestigious, the UEFA Cup was harder to win back then, the European Cup was nowhere near the standard of the Champions League of today. However the whole stars in shirts thing is naff. It used to be for every ten titles in Italy. And Brazil wore stars for every world cup win, few other teams did. Drop the stars, get the yellow and blue badge back and let's get a team together to be proud of. The current lot aren't up to scratch.

I don't know why some people are bothered about the stars on the shirt. I think it's a nice way to commemorate our 3 biggest achievements - which are all absolutely huge for the size of our club. And I don't really care what other clubs do.

New Kit on 12:16 - May 23 by Enigma_Blue | For example any kit from the 1981/82 season through to 2000. The shirt worn in 1981 was nice looking but rather plain in comparison to subsequent shirts. I mean it didn't really have any distinguishing features to it unlike the pinstripe one or the France style one. According to Lee O'Neil the new shirt is going to be something a bit special and likely to be the best selling shirt in recent years. Even if it has say for example the old style badge would that alone make the shirt "something a bit special" and sell like hot cakes? [Post edited 23 May 2020 13:57]

Best selling shirt because of emotional attachment no doubt ( 1981 Uefa Cup winning shirt ) is my interpretation.

Doesn't have the three stripes on the arm though so not the real deal.

But how much like the 80/81 shirt or the 81/82 can Adidas make it even with 3 stripes? Remember the shirt is going to have the new sponsor in the middle of it, the current adidas logo not the original one, the current club badge with the 3 stars above it not the yellow one. The 3 stripes won't be the full length of the sleeve as the EFL logo has to be out on them. [Post edited 24 May 2020 20:30]

Are the 3 stripes because we're in the 3rd tier?

The shirt could be the best shirt we've ever produced but some will certainly moan. There is a sub-culture of fan who treats football shirts with the same pretentious pompousness as w@nky wine nerds. It's all subjective. If it's decent just enjoy it. They'll never please everyone unless it really is the holy grail of shirt designs. The biggy really is the charity sponsor. We can all get behind that!!!
