Too scared to answer an Urgent Parliamentary question today on accusations that he approved a property development in return for a donation to Tory party funds.

I mean he should have resigned for breaching lockdown regulations in March but quite hard to see how he would survive now in a normal government. Unfortunately in this one he'll be fine.

Actually, that a former publisher of The Daily Express, The Sunday Express and The Daily Star made a donation to the Conservative Party is not that surprising. The amount is relatively small; so I think we have to ask two questions:

1) Is this being pursued because of the timing?

2) As Sky appear to be leading the reporting of this, is it motivated by a concern for the public interest or is it an indication of a press war over who gets to influence the party in power and how they can go about it?

I'd be amazed if anyone took a £12k bung to put a £1bn development through.

Market value for that bung must be at least £1m!!

it does seem remarkably cheap. If it were the case that the two events were unconnected then it should have been an easy ministerial statement for him to deny on the Commons today then.

Cash for condominiums?

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

When I worked at the Council I would never accept such a low bung, I would see that as insulting

Precisely. At the Borough Council they would never be allowed to build anything ever again unless the bung was a minimum 5% of future value

Which, let's be honest, is a description that fits richard desmond to a tee.

Has he not realised that he's too sordid for even the tories to give him a knighthood?
