FAO Football Manager nerds 13:53 - Jul 13 with 19678 views | tractordownsouth | Haven't played properly for a while and got a few days off work... I somehow managed to delete my Town save so I'll get going with a new one. Any good ideas for teams to start a save with? Preferably football league or foreign teams.

FAO Football Manager nerds on 21:23 - Aug 21 by tractordownsouth | Despite being favourites for the drop, we somehow managed to win the Championship at the first attempt to secure our 3rd promotion in 4 years. Was 6th at the halfway stage so not planning on promotion but added Curtis Jones from Liverpool on loan to go with top scorer Rhian Brewster. We finished with 57 scored but only conceding 23 - a lot of 1-0 wins along the way and the top 6 race was ridiculously tight until we pulled away in April. Managed to spunk my £30m transfer budget straight away by buying Goncalo Cardoso (CB from West Ham) for £15m, Karamoko Dembele (RW from Celtic) for £13m and anotherwinger from Elche £5m, as well as Callum O'Hare (CM from Villa) and Neco Williams (RB from Liverpool) for under £1m each. Brewster and Jones are on loan for another year too, and Harvey Carling (regen ST from Falkirk) was top scorer in the SPL and has joined for free, but he'll mainly be a bench option. Managed to get a 2-2 draw at Villa in the first game, which was good as the lack of goals was a worry last year. How's everyone doing? [Post edited 21 Aug 2020 21:24]

Good work! Dembele for £13m is a steal, seen him go for a lot more than that previously. Currently in my 5th season with Austria Vienna coming off the back of an unbeaten season (domestically). Having a bit of a mare this season though. Only made a couple of signings in the summer - managed to keep hold of most my squad who basically the whole of Europe was after - but transfer window closed and a month later my main striker - Matias Arezo - gets injured for 7 months. Lost 3 games on the spin and already sit 6 points behind Salzburg.

Despite extensive research and using tips from here my management was appalling and I was sacked. I thought I'd turned it round then had two red cards in two matches, in fact I had 5 reds in 3 matches! I've deleted the game, I tried everything.

Hadn’t thought about the RAM, no. But will do immediately. Then I think the graphics card may be next. Problem after that will be whether to continue current save or start again 😂

Do the research, I have discovered that it isn't possible or at least easy, to upgrade a graphics card. I'm saving for a new one.
FAO Football Manager nerds on 17:04 - Sep 2 with 1876 views | tractordownsouth | Finished season 5 yesterday - the first one in the PL. We started well but finished 15th due to a horrible run of 1 point from the last 8 fixtures, although that included all of the top 4. Really happy with the season overall as we were never in danger of going down, despite being solid favourites for the drop. Carried on with my 4-3-3 wide gegenpress and that'll continue as my main formation but I've started training a 4-2-3-1 control possession Done quite a few transfers in the summer but only 2 will be starters. Annoyingly, I forgot I had already arranged the deal for Ryan Nyambe and bought Henry Lawrence too, so now I have 2 reserve RBs. All the clubs listed are their teams on the game, not IRL Karl Darlow (GK Hull) £1m Ryan Nyambe (RB Watford) 650k Henry Lawrence (RB/CDM Celtic) £2m Trevoh Chalobah (CB/CDM Brentford) £16m Alfie McCalmont (CM Watord) £14m Ricardo Lopez (LW Real Sociedad) 800k Curtis Jones (LW Liverpool) Renewed Loan I released a fair bit of deadwood and sent my hot prospect regen striker Harvey Carling (2nd top scorer in SPL season before last) on loan to QPR as I couldn't give him enough game time last year. Wouldn't be surprised if we struggled though as we haven't scored many goals the last 2 seasons but I haven't improved the attack as there weren't any players willing to sign that would have been clear upgrades. How's everyone else's careers going?

FAO Football Manager nerds on 20:32 - Sep 2 with 1844 views | HealysBackPocket | Started a European journeyman save recently with the intention of starting in Austria, which I did with Kapfenberger... I promptly lost 8 games and realised they were frauds and resigned. I was then out of the game for the rest of the first season before being picked up by another Austrian team - Grazer AK 1902. Signed only Austrian players for the entirety of my time there and enjoyed 5 seasons with them. In my 5th season, I told myself at the start that if I didn't get promoted that season that I would leave and seek pastures new. At the winter break, I was 4 points clear at the top and relishing going up against Salzburg and LASK the following season - only to throw it away and end up coming 3rd by 2 points. I was already struggling to keep hold of my best players so not going up was never going to help with keeping hold of them. True to my word, I resigned and I'm currently holidaying waiting for interviews to pop up but I think it's time to swerve Austria at least for a little bit!

Just never managed there before and had dreams of toppling Salzburg. Already rocked up in a new job in another country I’ve not managed in; Turkey with a team called Afyonspor in the Turkish 2. League White Group - their star players earn £200 p/w so could be interesting!
FAO Football Manager nerds on 21:47 - Sep 2 with 1808 views | radiogaga | FM05 were the glory days for me. I got Hull from League one and started with Damien Delaney at CB and big Ben Burgess up front, and ended up finishing in the top 7 of the Prem every season. Won the Europa League in their first ever European campaign, signed a Slovakian striker called Robert Vittek. Him and Dave Kitson were banging them in with Morten Gamst Pedersen, Kim Kallstrom and Mark Van Bommel supplying the ammunition, Jonathan Greening and Chris Eagles always waiting in the wings. The ever dependable Nicky Shorey was my first choice LB throughout. Ended up acquiring Paul Scholes as a physio, David Beckham as my reserve team coach and fat Ronaldo as my U18s coach. The only player who stayed with me through my whole 18 year stint was Clayton Donaldson - I never ever played him, but I kept offering him new contracts to stay just for a laugh. He spent his entire career playing for Hull reserves. The last contract I offered him was something like £30k pw (a fairly big sum of money on FM05). [Post edited 2 Sep 2020 21:55]

Who did you bring in instead? The first year in my Town save I didn't make any signings (except a CB on loan) but got rid of Jordan Roberts and Danny Rowe. Although that was with the pre-Christmas database, so our player ratings have probably dropped since then so maybe the squad needs strengthening to mount a promotion push.

Started off well in Turkey: 5 played - 1 draw and 4 wins (including a win in the cup against a team in the division above) - not a bad start for a team tipped to be one of the favourites to go down. Next draw in the cup sees me at home against a Turkish super league side which will surely be the end of my short and sweet cup run (For context, their highest valued player: £6.25m - my highest valued player: £12.5k)

Based on a recommendation from a friend that knows what he is talking about, I got one of these for about £650 3 or 4 years ago. https://www.asus.com/uk/Laptops/N551VW/ It has been brilliant, runs FM without even breaking sweat, also runs the very hungry Cities Skyline really well, only starts to slow down a bit when the city is over 150k population.

I spent literally two seasons trying to offload Nolan without success, so massive respect there. Played 4 seasons and won the UEFA cup (or whatever it is now) in season 4 after finishing 7th in the PL. Keane, Kenlock and Jackson end up doing really well and worth £7-15m. Top tip: play an attacking, urgent style with lots of pressing, counter attacking and counter pressing and you'll generally do well.
FAO Football Manager nerds on 09:58 - Sep 4 with 1629 views | DecageBruce | Currently in 2032/33 season with Chelmsford. Finished a very good 8th last season and signed 2 attacking midfielders (both on a free and worth £30m+) and paid £22m for a Brazilian striker. Approaching Xmas and distinctly mid table. Only 3 loses but also only 3 wins. Lots of draws and not many goals being scored. None of the new signings have shone yet (all average ratings under 7) and new striker has 2 goals to his name and doesn't even look like scoring. Increased wage bill due to new contracts for 4 of my star players now mean that even with TV rev I am not breaking even so could really do with European Qualification this year to steady the ship

Signed Toney for £1.6m + £450k bonus on promotion as he was in last year of his contract. Also sold Judge so more squad filler gone. Currently TOTL after 17 games, winning 13 of them. Team is: Norris Vincent-Young Wolfenden Pennington Nydam Huws Dozzell Woodburn Bishop Dobra Toney Subs Folami Lankester El Mizouni Downes Edwards Morgan Chambers And that's it, no squad filler, just the kids to come in when we get an injury or two.

When I did my Town save I found it really difficult to get all the youngsters to reach full potential as there was so much competition in the middle of the park. Dozzell and Bishop barely played but Downes, El Mizouni and Lankester came through to the Premier League. I converted El Mizouni to a right midfielder though, as he wouldn't have got in the team otherwise.

Thinking of resigning as ITFC boss after 15 years of unprecedented success. 5 Premier league titles and 3 Champions Leagues. A new 56,000 seater stadium and a world leading youth system. My legacy will live on but I just need a new challenge. Any FM nerds out there with any recommendations? Probably want to go back to the bottom and work my way up again. Dozz has 35 Eng caps on mine and Downes 20. Sold Lankester for 20m to Villa but he didn't really kick on. Evans Sold Dobra above my head for 9m to Brighton. Bish, El Mix faded away into obscurity.
