So we’re officially in a recession on 12:00 - Aug 12 by hype313 | Indeed, having been made redundant in 2008 and seeing the pain my parents went through in the early 90's with 15% interest rates I have acted accordingly, I got rid of my Car last week, paid of the finance and saved £250 a month, luckily my job means I work from home so I can do without that cost. Now is the time to batten down the hatches. |
Completely agree. I find it helps to think of expenses annually. £40 a month on your phone sounds like a small amount. £480 a year when your salary before tax is £15,000? Not so much. Another one which will probably sounds fairly comical coming from me is learn to cook. Save a fortune on takeaways and eat nicer food for much cheaper. I have a mate who lives on McDonalds and Dominos. Must cost him a fortune.

So we’re officially in a recession on 14:20 - Aug 12 with 832 views | lowhouseblue | have you not been following the news? there was this lock down thingy that meant that output fell when shops and factories couldn't open and lots of people couldn't go to work.
| And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show |

Good advice. We've started doing Hello Fresh. It's really good - lovely meals, really cheap and little waste. Our first week was around £15 for 5 meals (two servings per meal). The second (non-discounted) week was still only £25. I'm starting to enjoy cooking as well. You get the exact amounts you need and the recipes are really easy to follow. BTW, anyone paying £40 a month for a phone when they only earn £15k p.a. is bonkers in the nut!

Hello Fresh is really good, it keeps you organised, the food is spot on and it's remarkable how many less visits we make to just nip to Sainsburys local.

Indeed. Don't know we didn't try it sooner. Laziness and the easy of Deliveroo I guess.
