Nice to see that we are sticking to a 433/4141 and whilst there are a couple of square pegs in round holes they are giving it a good go. Can tell this formation isn't going to suit Jackson centrally though.
Generally been very impressed with our organisation and commitment to a style, just silly little things like pressing and positional rotations seem streets ahead of last year - when one player goes, others know to drop in and able to work nice little triangles between the right players in the right areas of the pitch |  |

Agree.
Can see things have been worked on in pre season to date, at least trying to build a structure and pattern to play. Most notably with the CB having the ball the CDM dropped in to the pocket, both full backs moved really high and wide, wingers tucked in and the outer central midfield dropped into the full back areas, worked well tonight, and refreshing to see us stick to something and try and build on it.

Agree, a lot mor physically developed now, really clever footballer though, excited at the prospect this year.

For all the encouraging signs, it’s important to also keep things in perspective. It was our first pre season friendly, no teams play with the same level of intensity as a normal league game and it’s an opportunity to improve match fitness and get minutes in the legs. I’m not going overboard based on our first pre season match, but plenty to be hopeful for and to build on in going forwards. | |
