I wonder .... 09:26 - Sep 29 with 1866 views | backwaywhen | Does anybody know if Town have scouted the young Whitton Utd player Mydas Smalls ? apparently quite a talent for a 16 year old , hit the headlines couple weeks back as youngest ever scorer of an FA cup goal .

Just the consequences of years of under investment at the club. It's hard to quantify it as it's impact isn't immediately evident, but its a similar argument to sports science set up etc, if you pay peanuts you'll probably get injuries. If you don't invest in scouting and building links in the region, then you'll miss out on talented young players. It's all been too short term. There were a number of schools in Ipswich who the club decoupled its links from and Norwich nipped in. NCFC running sessions at schools in Ipswich, absolutely criminal. We've won some back I understand, and it's been a focus for L O'N but it shouldn't have got this far.

Even though he couldn’t hit the side of a Renault Espace

I wonder .... on 10:44 - Sep 29 by BrixtonBlue | It was Keane that got rid of Klug though? Things have really picked up since Klug was reappointed. |
Whilst Keane sacked Klug, Magilton took him away from the academy, and then he was replaced there - by the time Keane got there he had a nothing job at the club as effectively a senior skills coach. Also, in academies things take so long to come to fruition - Downes joined the academy as a 9 year old in 2009, as did Dozzell, Woolfie, etc....which would have been around the time off Jim leaving and Keane being appointed. The players we have missed out on in last 3-4 years would be in our U13s and u14s so placing blame is difficult - as SomethingBlue states it is just a general drift and lack of financing for the academy which ultimately Evans is responsible for and mostly under Klug's watch. O'Neill is trying to get things going back in the right direction but is probably only able to do so because he has Evans ear fully.
