We missed a midfield enforcer last night 10:44 - Oct 21 with 1356 viewsMaySixth

someone who got stuck in , won some tackles and passed the ball to the other two central midfielders

Downes would have been perfect

We definitely miss a bit of bite and physicality when midfields start to bully us

Yep mentioned on a previous thread. Why we added a centre half and a wide man on loan who have so far had only a few minutes between them when with both Downes and Skuse out we have no defensive midfielder?? Will undoubtedly cost us again before either are back. Not sure Lambert would try Mcgavin over the lightweights we currently have??

We need a modern day Stig Tofting, a hard man who will hold the thing together and kick a few people when needed.

Last night was a game where we really missed Downes. Huws offered nothing at all. Felt sorry for him really, he looked a shadow of the player he once was. He's completely immobile, lethargic on the ball, his passing was dreadful and he didn't get anywhere near close enough to Gomes or Whiteman to stop them playing.

Agreed - game was screaming out for Downes to break up the midfield once they got on top after about 20 minutes in.

I think we also massively missed having the experience and quality of Ward at left back. Kenlock didn’t have a notably worse game than other players, but looked under pressure both in defence and on the ball. Ward would have been more assured in possession, offered a more comfortable safety option for Holy, along with better positional play and leadership for the CB’s.

We did, although I also found Dozzell very disappointing in the bits I saw. Frequently gave the ball away and, while Holy was responsible for the final goal, I don't think Dozzell pinging the ball back to him a second time really helped.

Dozzell has been a revelation this season but yesterday was a poor performance from him.

once Donnie stopped us playing with so much space, the midfield floundered

They weren't brilliant by any means but the lack of goal threat 60 minutes onwards was worrying

Personally didn't think that was the case thought 1st goal Toto came out chasing the ball lost position
2nd goal one of those nobody took command
3rd goal Toto although outside area
Thought Holly was Awful 4th goal
Toto had a bad night
Nolan and Huw's after 20 minutes were none existent
And for all the beratement he gets Kenlock was far from the worse on the night
Dozzell neat and tidy in general

I wouldn't mind a Ward-style senior pro in there, a seasoned campaigner like when we signed Jim. Someone who's been there and done it and knows all the tricks, gets in the referees ear and isn't afraid to give an ear-bashing to his team mates. We need a needly nasty c@nt destroyer, we are too nice and too soft as a team. We need a couple of bastards who can scrap and sh!thouse us out of this league.
