Any suggestions? Not looking for the obvious (and expensive) ones like SushiSamba. Cheers.

Machiya in Piccadilly is a decent little place, limited menu but reasonably priced. But the best bit is the downstairs Japanese cocktail bar, although you have to be lucky to get in as it's extremely 'intimate'. They do an incredible range of cold and hot sakes too, if you like that sort of thing.

The Japan Centre is also around the corner from there, and is a great place for everything Japanese. The deli counter is excellent and features some fish and meat cuts you'd need a second mortgage for.

Inamo in Hampstead Road and Tanakatsu in Wakley Street were both excellent but I honestly don't know if either is still open now and because of CV19 the last time I went was months ago.

Haven't been for a while but Cocoro in Marylebone was always good. I echo Footers re the Japan Centre too.
