We're just that bit too slow on and off the ball, both collectively and individually. Really missing having Skuse or Downes in the midfield today. Crewe on the other hand have a number of players who've come through together and the familiarity shows.
Telling that for all they've been better than us they have only had one really good chance and that was largely down to Wolfenden getting beaten far too easily.
I still don't think either Hawkins or Ward is fully fit and the lack of mobility of both hinders the whole set up. |  |

They've had a tough run of fixtures to start the season but only narrow losses to likes of Lincoln, Charlton, Sunderland. Clearly a very good footballing side but maybe lack the ruthlessness to get past the better teams.
Against ponderous, negative, uninspiring teams like us they'll have enough to find the victory. |  |

I will always see Crewe as our bogey team. Anomalous results against Crewe in the Burley years is what made the difference between automatic promotion and playoff misery, that is my thesis. |  |
