Do you agree the word 'handbags' is offensive to women when used to describe a scuffle in a football match?

I like to think I'm reasonably woke, but even I have to say this is a bit silly and going a bit far.

The biggest worry in all this, though, is I'm starting to agree with Piers Morgan!

I was about to agree with you but there is this:

"Also in the same 20-minute spell, Thompson said: "I think the referee's wife's in" and referred to a player as: "Being a bit of a drama queen... he'd have been better wearing a skirt.""

The handbags thing, I can't see that as an issue at all in isolation to be honest. I've used it.

Drama queen, ok, maybe that too. But the ref's wife?

Wearing a skirt? Really mate, what were you thinking?

You know, if you're going to use so many cliches all at once thinking you're going to get away with it, then you're probably in the wrong job.

I would tend to agree with you. Although I would appreciate it if you could manage not to use words like 'Piers Morgan' on here.

I'll be honest, I didn't read the whole thing. It was more just the handbags bit that surprised me. In context, all that other stuff is going too far.

Surely if you are militant pc about these things then a handbag is a unisex item in the first place.

Remember of course, everything you think is "a bit silly" now will probably get you banned in 5-10 years time.

No I didn't think for a moment you'd go with all of that.
