Brexit is going to be great pt. 48293 16:21 - Dec 8 with 2517 viewsDubtractor

This had previously been committed as a being built in Bridgend and hailed as a vote of confidence in Brexit Britain. Plus Jim Ratcliff is a renowned Brexiter and has boasted about having faith in our country.

I never cease to be amazed by the power of English exceptionalism. That people were so quick to buy the lie that we'd basically carry on as normal but no longer have to pay into the EU shows a quite staggering level of entitlement and delusion. Seriously, I wish we could hive off Little England and let them plough their own furrough. They can keep the Queen, the rest of us can start a new republic with David Attenborough as head of state.

It's probably only second to American exceptionalism.

The 'what is the EU' search numbers on the day after the referendum should be a national embarrassment. But these people flout their ignorance like a badge of honour.

I don't mind if people have legitimate views on leaving the EU and can back up their claims while accepting the losses in the short, medium and long terms, but the problem is most who voted for it can't do any of that. It's a sad state of affairs all right.

USA, USA, USA!!!!

It's sick. I've seen people from the south talk about Germany as if they're some kind of developing nation, meanwhile Louisiana has people living in shacks without electricity and running water.

They genuinely believe that America is the best country in the world because that's what they're constantly told and half of them have never had that lie tested by going elsewhere to see for themselves.

I agree... But... Went into a pub in the North Wales countryside once and it was immediately clear that we were not welcome there. It was liked we had interrupted the Welsh Sopranos in the middle of deciding which mountain to bury the body on.

I had a similar incident in a butchers in Abergavenny. All jolly and welcoming until I spoke, and he realised I was English, and with the flick of a switch he was rude and surly.

Sunnier uplands?

I hadn’t realised this before but of course the British uplands are cloudy and wet AF.

Maybe Brexit is just a colossal geography error and they were thinking more about Madrid or some mountains emerging from the jungle mists in Borneo? They certainly seem to misunderstand that our main trading partner and driver of our economy is 20-odd miles away and not across an ocean or on the other side of the world.

I love Abergavenny. But that area seems to be becoming part of the Bristol overspill. Might have something to do with that?

But I was out and about there for a few days last summer and had no bother so maybe you were just unlucky.

Maybe they accurately realised I was a coooont?

I should add that whilst in the town we also saw more than one shop selling golliwog dolls. Which was nice.

This was 2008 ish.
