Facters still has his original Oyster card.
Kicked right off when they tried to charge him extra for his Penny-farthing.

And five years later people travelled on the London Underground to see the last public hanging in the UK.

To save the age-baiters, I wasn't one of them. Anybody who suggests otherwise will be reported to the shadowy vigilante groups who 'investigate' this sort of thing.

Wasn't London also the richest city in the world at the time?

A shadowy vigilante organisation will be in touch.

Is it too late to issue a full apology and make a decent donation to Age Concern?

Bear with me, the rear security light has just gone on.

The fact that you didn't agree with this whole new-fangled 'horseless carriage' thing for a long while is the main reason you didn't go.

I hated Latin at school.
Teacher was an odd boy who smelt of mothballs and caned me for throwing a snowball through the Master’s Common Room window.
Because the Headmaster smoked a pipe, they used to leave it open a few inches at the top to let some fresh air in.
Show some mercy ffs.

Facter’s original Oyster Card was an oyster.

Our Latin teacher was 'Pup' Eaglesham. Why that was his nickname nobody knew.

We also had a maths teacher who'd been years called Mr McLaughlin. He was nicknamed Tick Tock. Again nobody knew why. Then, some years ago, I saw the film based on the true story of the racehorse Seabiscuit. That film featured a racing commentator 'Tick Tock' McLaughlin. I thought the mystery was solved.

Then, a couple of years ago, I found out that the racing commentator was an entirely fictional character....

If you pronounce McLaughlin with a heavy accent it sound like 'My Clock Lin"

maybe, the mystery is solved?
