There are no excuses now Paul, none. 21:03 - Jan 18 with 2629 viewsMrTown

Promote us or get out of the club. Quite simply the 1/2/3 best squad in this division with the addition of Thomas & Harrop. Outrageous riches at this level, truly scandalous.

Holy
Chambers - Nsiala - McGuinness - Ward
L.Thomas - Bishop - Downes - Edwards
Harrop
Norwood

Subs from:
Cornell, Jackson, Hawkins, Woolfenden, Dozzell, Lankester, Nolan, Judge, Huws, Sears, Drinan, Kenlock, Wilson, Dobra, El Mizouni, McGavin, Bennetts

On the flip side, McGuinness has become a very decent player for us, the only centre back that is guaranteed a start, so good job he did sign him!!

I think Donacien will leave this month, although personally I'd like to see him given a chance, but when he does go, we may see another RB come in then, on loan.

You appear to have an unhealthy obsession with McGuiness.

He's really not been anything that special. Made some very basic errors along with most of our defence this season.

Oh but because he made some silky turns in a game and scored a goal means he's an amazing player!

McGuiness has been pretty ropey in a number of games and has cost us quite a few goals through individual errors. His positional play leaves a lot to be desired. I'm really not sure what you're watching. We didn't need him, it's just further muddled things for us. We did, however, need an actual right back.

McGuinness does some very very good things, but still sloppy at some of the basics.

That is purely down to his age, and learning the game, he’s going to play at a really good standard, but he is still learning.

If that means Woolfenden has his development hindered at McGuinness’ expense, I’m not comfortable with that.

But it’s irrelevant right now because Woolfenden is on the List of Lambo for the foreseeable.

Oh yes I am fully aware he is far from the finished article, but yes, he will improve as he ages, as do all centre backs.

But yes, Woolfie does seem to have gone backwards, which is a worry.

HaHa maybe I have!

The silky turns are not something I really wanna see from a centre back TBH and the goal is a bonus.

I was referring more to his dominance in the air, timing of the tackle and reading of the game in general. He is VERY comfortable on the ball, but all young CBs are these days.

He will make mistakes, but fewer than Woolfie and right now we need to get out of this division, so will have him starting every week and then worry about Woolfie next season!

You seem to be ignoring that McGuiness has made several individual errors leading to goals, that includes giving away two penalties (a bit fortunate it's not been more) alongside a number of other pretty basic errors. Woolf hasn't been at his best but his glaring errors have been fewer and further between and we benefit from Woolf learning his trade in a way that we don't with McGuiness. If McGuiness was a clear upgrade then fair enough, but he really isn't. He played marginally better than Woolf in recent games but still looks to have a mistake in him and I suspect Woolf would be doing better alongside a more experienced CB rather than habu g to marshal McGuiness through games as the senior CB.

Not saying he is perfect, but lets agree to disagree on this one then!

Still have mightmares on that cross field pass by Woolfie a few weeks ago, that caught Chambers out of position and led to them scoring a free goal pretty much.

VERY odd thing for a CB to do!!

Even odder is that you think that was Woolfie when it was McGuinness

Also says a lot about our defensive resilience that we consider giving the ball away 20 yards into their half to be a "free goal".

Oops.

Yeah we need to send McGuinness back, useless!
