I personally think it's a brilliant PR stunt by Hasbro. Some will say it breaks gender and family structure stereotypes, which is a good thing, while the usual gammons will be frothing about political correctness gone mad. Either way, Hasbro is on the front page of the BBC (and I'm guessing all over the media).
Even Hasbro sound like they're taking the piss: "Hasbro is making sure all feel welcome in the Potato Head world..."
Trust the process. Trust Phil.

So what do we all think of Mr and Mrs Potato Head losing their titles? on 08:41 - Feb 26 with 789 views
I actually think it's brilliant and judging by twitter, the usual people are mortally offended by this, which makes me smile.
Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing.
Personally think it's a load of bowlocks, but hey, as you've all but stated - all publicity is good publicity.
Given that the toy has parts too small for the youngest kids, and is competing with tech toys for the attend of older kids by doing this maybe, just maybe they'll sell some just for the revised packaging. And Andy will never play with then.
It’s a cost cutting exercise positioned in a different way to get as much PR as possible (which has been successful). Now Hasbro only have one product to make and merchandise (Potato Head) rather than two (Mr & Mrs Potato Head).
Anyone who gets excited or angry about it needs to get a grip of their life.

If you read the story fully, both are still being made.

Wayne and Coleen will no longer be "Sir" and "Lady"?
Thanks to Harry Enfield and Kathy Burke, couples where the make is called Wayne will forever be known, to me, as Wayne and Waynetta, and one of their kids Frogmella.

I did like the headline in one paper, “Mr Potato loses his meat and two veg”
