Contactless payments upto £100 on 17:19 - Mar 3 by jeera | Still needed though. Pay a kid to cut the grass, or walk the dogs, run an errand... Cash has got to still have a big place for a long time yet surely? Giving someone a lift to the airport, they're gonna chuck you the money for fuel. I dunno, there must be hundreds of reasons if we could be bothered to consider them. Pick you up a sandwich whilst I'm out? You've going to pay me in cash you'd think. Yes to cash, cash in! |
I would bank transfer everything you've described there apart from the child labour, which I wouldn't use. I'd rather someone not pay me for a sandwich than give me cash.

But you could use that cash to pay kids to ring Lambert's doorbell and run away.

Child labour? Why would you want to take away a kid's chance to make a few quid? Edit: Imagine the cubs/scouts coming round trying to raise some money and being turned away on the basis that it's 'child labour'. "Can I sweep up your leaves missus?" "No you cannot. That would be taking advantage of you! Giving you money for doing that." [Post edited 3 Mar 2021 18:45]

That would taking advantage! I'm talking about kids earning some money. How the feck a kid having a little job to make some money gets turned into 'child labour' is anyone's guess. Kids mustn't be allowed to make themselves some money. Righto. No more Saturday jobs for kids.

I'm with you on this one. Teaches kids good lessons but the value of money.

The child can save up and buy its own! You supply your own mower. The same as you supply your own dogs! Ok, it's not quite the same. Anyway, point was supposed to be, it's nice to chuck someone a note here and there. I had to have sewer services out a couple of weeks ago and really wouldn't want to do that job myself. So I gave the chap a note just as a nod. Same as I do when a Tesco driver drops a delivery on a rainy night, that sort of thing. Taxi drivers...

Contactless payments upto £100 on 10:48 - Mar 4 with 506 views | JammyDodgerrr | I think at this point, most people surely are using Apple/Android Pay which has no limit? I can understand why they would want to raise this limit to £100, but also there are so many controls for locking cards immediately if you lost it, i don't think it's quite as risky. Either way, switch to Apple Pay if possible.

Excuse me, but about a dozen posts ago did the subject change to kids sweeping up leaves with a mower? Wtf! A leaf blower I could just about tolerate in this instance but a mower? And most of those leaves are going to be on paving so you will feck up the blades of the mower (or the plastic whirly things) as well as chopping the leaves into bits and scattering them far and wide. Also, should the under sixteens be using leaf blowers and mowers. Surely that will invalidate the insurance on those appliances?

Why not? Apple Pay is incredibly secure. Card numbers not even stored on the device.
