AZ vaccine banned for under 60s again in Germany; Canada cite research.. 19:42 - Mar 30 with 3046 viewspointofblue

that risk of blood clots in the young is as ‘low‘ as 1 in 100,000 after given vaccine.

I know I should go off the WHO and EMA recommendations but this kind of thing hardly helps.

...not at all...but the use of words is interesting don't you think? It does not say scientists have confirmed there is no link between the vaccine and clotting and yet you use it to imply as much. Disingenuous.

Edit ...oh and guess what, instinctively it always seemed to me that the whole infected surfaces/getting infected outdoors thing was essentially nonsense...yet you and most others were screaming..."but the science....."

The use of words is absolutely fine and correct, you are just looking for something to criticise.

The science at the time was that surface transmission was a vector, over the last few months I have posted articles showing the science has moved on from that.

To be honest your second paragraph is just whatabouterry, you were downplaying about everything at the start of the pandemic and you annoyed a lot of posters at the time. I wouldn't be so eager to refresh peoples memories if I were you and I'd also not be looking to slip back into that posting attitude.

"getting infected outdoors thing was essentially nonsense..."

Then please explain to me how I caught two ordinary common colds when I had only met people outside, not met even one person in a building.

I think they’ve changed the name of the jab in the EU now to try and get away from the smear campaign

"surfaces/getting infected outdoors thing was essentially nonsense"

You're getting over-excited and making things up.

No one has said surface transmission is nonsense, only that it not a main factor, and that standard cleaning practices are enough. Which should be carried out anyway you would hope.

I wonder if some people recite this rubbish as a way to excuse their own low standards to be honest. Why wouldn't anyone want a clean home?

As for outdoors, unless you stop breathing then being in close contact with someone face to face with will be a vector. Spreading germs doesn't stop as soon as you leave the building. It's not complicated to take on board the ventilation aspect.

It's hardly groundbreaking news that being enclosed is a far worse situation for spreading anything.

I read a piece somewhere a couple of weeks ago suggesting the shift of messaging is deliberate as that gives people less to focus on, with the hope more might then be likely to be compliant with the basics rather than feel overwhelmed by having too much to consider.

If that's the case I'd say that makes sense. Especially when faced with X amount of agenda pushers continuously trying to play everything down.

The thing about science is that it continuously try's to prove itself wrong, that's essentially what science is. Literally any scientific theory you care to name leaves open the possibility that it may be wrong and effectively challenges future generations to come up with a better theory. The scientific process is typically that you construct a hypothesis from observation and then seek to prove that hypothesis using more detailed data.

In this case the hypothesis would have been that the vaccine has a safety issue related to blood clotting (effectively trying to prove that previous safety research was in error). They were unable to prove that hypothesis from the data. Of course you can never say that there is a zero risk but we don't need to. All we need to know is how the risk of blood clots compares to the risk from the virus. In this case it is several orders of magnitude less risky to take the vaccine.

It's also worth observing that disproving anything is a mugs game because someone can always say you didn't look hard enough. There is a point at which you have to say we've looked as hard is reasonable and move on.

Poll: We recruit two strikers, one has to be Bonne or Wickham, who would you have?

I'm all for militant terrorist groups rejecting the vaccine and taking their chances with C19.

C19 isn’t deadly enough. Better to insist they take the vaccines but leave some air bubbles in the syringe.
