Cracks already appearing on 15:00 - Apr 20 by StokieBlue | So hard to see how they can play in the ESL at all with rule L9 of the PL: Except with the prior written approval of the board, during the season a club shall not enter or play its senior men’s first team in any competition other than: L.9.1 - The UEFA Champions League L.9.2 - The UEFA Europa League L.9.3 - The FA Cup L.9.4 - The FA Community Shield L.9.5 - The Football League Cup or L.9.6 - Competitions sanctioned by the County Association of which it is a member. I am sure they have the lawyers on it but that looks pretty specific with what competitions are allowed. SB |
I saw this earlier, this is what I was referring to in my reply before. Seems pretty watertight to me On another note, did anyone notice this Hilarious from Wolves

Cracks already appearing on 14:36 - Apr 20 by Ely_Blue | He’s right though……. Wouldn’t it be ironic if half of the big stars of these teams refused to be part of it or that the worlds biggest players all jumped ship? It wouldn’t be the flagship competition that the owners are wanting without these players who arguably could go to any other club in Europe |
Not sure about ironic but it is the players rather than fans/government/legislative bodies that are the ones that could kill this stone dead in an instant if they wanted That’s not a dig as it would have to be a collective effort but if say all of the players for the big 6 stood in solidarity and refused to play until the plans were shelved the clubs wouldn’t have a choice (legal action would be an empty threat at that point as would take ages to play out and even that could vindicate the players anyway depending on exact contract wordings)

I meant ironic in that the organisers of the ESL are doing so to get the biggest teams and players out on this mega competition platform

One fascinating story I haven't seen anyone mention is whether De Bruyne was told before he signed his new deal? If not, then that deal is probably open to some sort of challenge if he wanted to. If so, we've just found the first player to support it...
