One of the lies being peddled is that the government had to over rule normal checks to rush PPE to the UK

What they don't mention is that was due to them running down stocks, and ignoring warnings from Operation Cygnet

"he Cygnus report was frank about the state of the UK’s readiness. “The UK’s preparedness and response, in terms of its plans, policies and capability, is currently not sufficient to cope with the extreme demands of a severe pandemic that will have a nationwide impact across all sectors,” it found."

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/07/what-was-exercise-cygnus-and-what-

What then followed last March was not so much panic to resolve tge problem they have caused, but a panic to ensure that fellow Tories profited, as can be read here

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/apr/22/fifth-of-uk-covid-contracts-raised

We will never know how many patients and medical staff died as a result of this incompetence, which was followed by what looks like blatant corruption.

And if they have their way, we will not know whose pockets were lined either

Time for real questions to be put, and answers demanded

Odd how many of the delicate petals should be so outraged by the word floozy in one thread, but not this time a day before.

Even more odd when you note how many of the 'complainants' actually posted in this thread, without the slightest of squeaks in that regard.

Of course, some might suggest that those whose views adhere to the thought that any questioning of language, and how it is used are 'woke', might be thought to be displaying a rather hypocritical stance on this occasion - perhaps through a need to distract from the post content per chance.

If some wish to see racism and misogyny behind the use of those words then so be it. Though I would hope that they might wonder at how they feel the right to criticize should only be the one way,

As to the bleat about Johnson's weight. Is that to be deemed 'fattist ?

As actually comparing his bloated form with my own, I would venture that his is actually the fattist.

Otherwise do have a good evening, one and all

I hadn’t noticed that in said post but highlighting more times you’ve used sexist terminology isn’t the flex or own you seem to think.

Once you find some actual sleaze and not just some wild accusations come back and tell us.

The only thing that's been proven to be wrong is the late announcement of a small number of tendered contracts. Even that was mostly ignored by the public who understood the unique circumstances.

I am sure that mistakes were made, contracts given to some who should never have got them, and money wasted. To insinuate that it's all some huge conservatives conspiracy to make money for themselves and their mates is based purely on political bias.

I bet you're spitting feathers that this isn't cutting through with the public!

Whilst not wishing to piss on your parade, but today's Ipsos MORI poll showing a 5 point drop in the Tories lead, was carried out between 16-22 Apr, mostly before YouGov (10pts Tory lead) & Opinium (11pts Tory lead). So that's before Cummings blog post on Friday.

I thought it was an odd poll when I saw it as Labour had also dropped by one point and you would have expected them to benefit from any blowback from the Tory sleaze revelations.

Still, at least we have clarified that you are talking about "voting intention" polls.

I bow to your ability to refute my points..............though I must admit I have yet to see one example

As to the poll, my point as in 'for what it is worth' was that as before they can and do fluctuate over any number of variables.

That is why I made no comment on the Tories dropping five points. They could drop another 5 points, but it still wouldn't indicate how much voters have really taken on board what is happening, and what has happened.

Take a look at Cornwall where the suggestion is that the Tory vote will drop over fishing 'betrayal'. Is that an indication of the wider picture, or a reaction to one issue.

Either side could make an argument on that suggested vote - does it really indicate anything ?

Ignore him and he goes away. Time and hindsight do enough to pick apart his arguments thus causing him to scurry away and rewrite his posting history.

Bread and circuses mate. Hence the reason Johnson has thrown another dead cat on the table today by saying he expects the UK to be fully open by June 21.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; People are more interested in when the pubs are opening than how much Johnson spent on his wallpaper. Factor in that every man and has dog has spent the past year demonising Cummings as the devil incarnate and it isn't going to have much of an effect.

Now the suggestion that Johnson said he'd rather see the "bodies piled high rather than lockdown" is a different kettle of fish. If there is a tape recording of this then his position is untenable. He'll be out of the door in a week.

But sleaze and home décor simply isn't cutting through.

We are in the post-shame era GB. Ignore it long enough, act as if you've done nothing wrong and that everyone is out to get you, and you can get away with anything.

Personally, I have serious doubts that it will even move the needle when you have devout Johnson lovers out there. Can you imagine Paz being put off by it, for example?

I'd love to be proved wrong!

Half the cabinet have set up offices ready for a leadership contest.

I can't see how he could stay if he is on record making that statement. And nor should he.

Gove, Hancock, Sunak and Shapps were in that meeting, who do you think leaked it.

So he'd only be going because of an internal Tory power struggle. I suspect that none of them would actually have issue with what he said privately, they are just cynical enough to exploit it. I doubt the public tide would turn against him though, which is an entirely different and depressing matter. It's another case of 'Old Boris just being Boris'.

I honesty can't remember the last time a Tory Prime Minister didn't serve at the pleasure of the parliamentary party. Thatcher probably.

Major, Cameron and May had to little to no power. Mostly down to small or non existent majorities. Boris as a decent majority but no particular power base. He vacuous. so doesn't command the support of any particular wing of the party.

He was put in place to win an election. Nobody even thought about how he'd actually govern.

If he's seen as a liability then he'll be out.

I think this is a case of

'the dog that didn't bark'

given the absence of strong denials by all four that they did not hear Johnson say those words

The problem for our bloated buffoon is he is not too streetwise when it comes to this sort of thing - as he seems to imagine that because there has not been an immediate reaction to much of the sh ite he spews out, it has been forgotten/ignored

Whereas Cummings, like most on such positions, has had the good sense to not only record this stuff but squirrel it away for later use. Similarly

I ask ?

If, as you repeatedly claim, this will not affect voters intentions then where the liability ?
