The thing is, new signings or lack of will be dictated by just how excited players are at joining Ipswich in League one, with a manager who hasn't got his main coach. Who threw a whole team under the bus. And sadly, a bunch of seasoned pros aren't quite going to be as excited about the idea of Paul Cook as Ipswich manager as we are.

They have options. Any decent player whose contract is up in the current climate is going to have their pick of clubs at a certain level. We just don't have the 'draw' some people seem to think we do.

Cooks approach only works if he can sign the players he wants. First two he's gone for, it appears, have turned him down flat. Let's hope he can do better.

Not seen any evidence that we made any offers to him or that he turned us down.

Do you have some evidence or are you citing speculation as fact?

It seems to be the case. (of course this isn't a picture of him signing a contract, but the Football Insider article does say he's turned a three year contract from us down).

It's not going to be easy. Just because we've got new owners doesn't mean we'll be able to shop higher than our level unless we get very lucky. It's a bit of a worry given that we need to put pretty much a new whole team together, but early days still.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Not seen that anywhere else except that Football Insider link.

Perhaps it's true but would want more than just that link to say we definitely missed out on him.

To be honest I'd rather we signed Mullin. A lot more mobile. Younger and fitter.

And never scored anything before this season.

Might be great but I think we might be looking higher for our main striker (unless it's going to be Norwood.....).
