Boris - Covid 13:30 - Jun 21 with 2631 views | Keano_TWO | Does anyone else feel he's just given up and is going through with the 'Live with it' way of dealing with Covid Hospital Admissions up 30% per week, yet all he is saying is, it will be a hard time for our NHS but July 19th is still on course to be lifted.

Boris - Covid on 13:34 - Jun 21 with 2594 views | dickie | I can't see an end to covid any time soon. I started to feel positive about things getting back to normal but increasingly I feel like this is going to keep rolling on. We have no idea what variants might end up appearing once we open everything up again and if any of those are resistant to the vaccine. I don't know what the answer is but I've just got this horrible feeling that we're going to be in this situation for the foreseeable.

It's just so concerning. No it may not be about number of Covid related deaths compared to last year.. but alot of people ignore the limits that the hospitals have when it comes to ICU's. It's not just about those who die of Covid as it once was it's in my opinion all about how it is effecting everything else now. How many people will die of non Covid related illnesses because they can't get into ICU's etc [Post edited 21 Jun 2021 13:40]

It's fair to say that Boris is doing his best. It' just that his 'best' is what most people might describe as 'a woeful blend of incompetence married to open corruption, stitched together by pat soundbites'. [Post edited 21 Jun 2021 14:13]

Boris - Covid on 13:41 - Jun 21 with 2516 views | Timefliesbyintheblue | It wasn't all he said as you reported it was; The prime minister says cases of the Delta variant are rising at a rate of about 30% a week with hospitalisations and intensive care admissions "roughly the same" so the government has got to be "cautious but will be following the data the whole time". Asked if he could rule out future lockdowns as early as this winter due to changes in the pandemic, he says: "You can never exclude that there will be some new disease, some new horror that we simply haven't budgeted for or accounted for. "But looking at where we are, the efficacy of the vaccine against all variants that we can currently see...I think it is looking good for 19 July to be that terminus point." He says: "Scientists are saying things like flu will come back this winter, we will have a rough winter for all sorts of reasons...all the more reason to reduce the number of Covid cases now to give the NHS the breathing space to deal with all those other pressures." Boris Johnson was at the National Institute for Biological Standards and Control, part of the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, to announce his aim to increase research spending from nearly £15bn a year to £22bn by 2025.

I was literally watching the ITV news with him as I posted, it was the Hospitalisations admissions that were up 30% week on week, Not the cases. Btw, not sat next to him watching it, you know what I mean :) [Post edited 21 Jun 2021 13:45]

Good afternoon Spruce Moose - I have noted especially with you, that when you are 'tied up in knots' you resort to rudeness and inaccuracies. It is not an uncommon trait. Methinks it is going to be a long day - ah but am I correct in saying that you had your longest day yesterday?

https://www.ipsos.com/ipsos-mori/en-uk/public-opinion-covid-19-coronavirus-pande The "Handling of Covid-19" graph seems to be supportive of a view that most people have little confidence in the government's approach. Although that was a poll from nearly 3 weeks ago, doubtless some have changed their minds.

It's just such a shambles Just be honest with the public, make sure you support them as well as businesses, landlords etc and get through this together. No one wants to lose their freedom, but people will understand restrictions if they trust those that put them in place.
