Was very poor last year, missed the season before.
I am a little confused as to why we are concerned with these youngsters leaving. Not been good enough I’m afraid exc. Downes - who ironically doesn’t even want to be here.

I think we'll probably be a bit more enthusiastic when it's revealed we're talking to more inspiring replacements than Michael Jacobs.

I think you’re are miles away from it if you don’t think Michael Jacobs, in addition with Lee Evans and Wes Burns aren’t the exact calibre and type of player we need.
Players in the prime, players who have had success in their careers, players who have had success in this very division, under this manager.
These a very good League 1 operators. I’m not sure exactly who and what your expectations were, but it sounds like you were very very wide of the mark.

Evans and Burns were great signings, I never said otherwise. Get off your high horse, and look up irony while you're at it.
The point I was making is that if we're kicking out a young winger who's shown glimpses of real talent in a brief career blighted by injuries, you'd hope there's better passing him on the way in than a 29-year-old (which really is not "in the prime" for a winger) who's done nothing in the last injury-blighted couple of years, and who another League One club with similar aspirations of promotion have no further use for. Jacobs would be fine as squad filler, but we're a long way from being anywhere near that stage.

A 29 year old, a 2x League 1 winner, 1x under our current manager and was a crucial man for Cook in the Championship as well.
I hope Jack has a good career and wish him the best of luck, but Michael Jacobs is a solid upgrade on Jack Lankester if we are comparing like for like. 2 year deal with an option for a further. Would be delighted with that.
I know it’s disappointing we are building a team of galácticos, but I am very confident Ashton & Cook will put together a very strong, and a significantly stronger squad than the one we saw last year.

Look up Irony? Going from your post that MrTown was replying to, this might be of assistance.

Yeah, history has shown us that going back in for your old mates a couple of years down the line always works out exactly as you hope it will.
I hope you're right. But it seems a little close to the wire to suddenly start rifling through your old phone, and clearly the "three, four, five" deals Ashton was on about a couple of weeks back didn't happen. I hope we will end up "significantly stronger", but at this point I'm starting to wonder whether we'll have sold all the players other clubs actually want, filled up with seasoned lower-league campaigners, and that suddenly the players we've got that nobody else wants will prove to have been miraculously "motivated" by Cook telling them to f-ck off enough to be worth sticking with.
Plenty of time left for this to be completely wrong. Let's hope it is.

But the glimpses of real talent were 3 years and 2 back operations ago. I hope that he goes on to have a decent career but last season was a massive disappointment

Good League One players but equally not so good that they dragged their respective teams to any better than 7th in the League.
Being realistic, I can't see that a whole squad of Burns/Evans/Jacobs types in itself is going to suddenly make us potential league winners.
