You end up with too many pros and a bloated squad, not good for a club.
They prob have a decent sell on fee inserted in case he comes good.

Because they would still be paying part of his wages, and if they don't see him having a future at the club, what would be the purpose ?
This way they get paid/we pay only if he turns out OK
