Swatting House Flies (and other beasties). 12:56 - Jul 6 with 2847 views | StochesStotasBlewe | Since moving into the countryside, the prevalence of the above have become a pain in the arse, so last weekend i purchased one of those tennis racket type thingies that have an electric current running through them to try and keep the numbers down.....and i must say what great fun i have had hitting the little bvggers Andy Murray esque. The noise and spark created as they get fried is a costant source of joy, but i'm concerned all this swatting is going to give me tennis elbow. Apart from being more hygienic, both personally* and domestically, what's the most effective way of getting rid of the little blighters. * I shower once a week.
| We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |

Not quite an AK47 but I've got one of these... https://www.thebugasalt.co.uk/collections/all-range/products/bug-beam-combo-oran Great fun but the laser sight is a little bit useless😂

I usually opt for elastic bands but that does look more fun. £60 though. Hmm.

Swatting House Flies (and other beasties). on 16:18 - Jul 6 with 451 views | lowhouseblue | had what i assume must have been an asian hornet in the house a week or so ago. it was absolutely huge. not all that keen on normal hornets, but this thing was seriously unpleasant.
| And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show |

Swatting House Flies (and other beasties). on 17:06 - Jul 6 with 431 views | swede | I found the tennis racket electrocuter thingy too much effort chasing the little beggars around the room so I invested in one of those large wall zappers that you see in butchers shops etc. The blue light attracts them and then bang they are gone! Some evenings it's going off like WW3! Also seriously I would recommend buying some carnivorous plants for the window sill. They are fun to keep and catch no end of flies too. The grandchildren love the Venus Flytrap but I find Sarracenias (Pitcher plants) are the most effective. Sticky sundews are good for attracting the smaller flies and amazing to watch as they curl up around a stuck fly to devour it.

Yes, I think I had one of those in the conservatory last week too. Far bigger than any hornet I have ever seen! Not easy to crush either, you need more than a matchbox!

i hit it repeatedly with a rolled up copy of the guardian - it was crushed physically and ideologically.
